Math 10-3 Transfer Task Cultural Food Market
Instructions
You and your classmates will set up a class store which will sell foods representative of various cultures.
Part I – The Currency
Working with a partner, research the currency from a country other than Canada. You must fill in the Currency Information Sheet provided. Create samples of their paper currency. Your paper currency must contain at least two bills, approximately equivalent to $20 Canadian in total. www.xe.com is a good online conversion tool.
Part II – The Food
Research the food in the country. On ______, you and your partner will bring samples of that food to sell in our class marketplace. You must decide what to bring, and how much to charge for it. The price you set must be in the currency of your country. Begin filling out the Transaction Record Sheet.
Part III – The Sale
Once the class market is set up, you and your partners will take turns being the buyers and the sellers. In the first round, one of you will stay at your food stand to sell the food while the other person goes shopping. In the second round, you will switch roles. Between rounds, we will pause to eat and to fill in the first transactions on the Transaction Record Sheet. After the second round, we will eat some more, and fill in the second transactions on the Transaction Record Sheet. Currency Information Sheet
