World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Series Rules and Procedures

It is the responsibility of the team driver and crew chief to make sure your crew members have read and understand the following procedures. Please put a copy of these procedures and the race schedule in your trailer in a place where crew members can refer to it during your stay. Schedule is available at the pit office.

You must check in each day to the pit office so that the track knows that you plan on racing that day, this is mandatory. If you do not register each day we will not know you are racing and therefore if you decide to race you will start at the rear of the field. Licenses All drivers are required to have a valid NASCAR license to race. Practice Procedures Practice schedules will be available every morning at the pit office. Practice will go strictly by the schedule,. THE PA SYSTEM WILL NOT BE USED FOR CALLING UP CLASSES FOR PRACTICE, IT IS UP TO YOUR TEAM TO BE AWARE OF THE SCHEDULE, DO NOT RELY ON IT. A maximum of fifteen cars at a time will be on the track during practice. Cars may be “fed in” or held for second practice session immediately following depending on the amount of cars in the class. Cars that are sent on to the track during practice while cars are at speed must ingress onto track after clearing turn 2. Any car that does not follow this procedure will be immediately black flagged and sent to the pits for an official to remind the driver of what the procedures are and placed at the rear of the line of cars waiting to practice. Cars that are based on the “hill” outside of turn 3 and 4 will be rotated as first or second group on the track based on numbers shown. A team member must monitor race control during any time their car is on the track.

THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO NEED A LAPS ALLOWED ONCE PRACTICE IS COMPLETED.

Procedures during and after qualifying. Qualifying order is assigned by the pit office. Cars must go thru pre-qualifying tech and will proceed directly to pit road putting the nose of the car at the corresponding qualifying number on the outer pit road wall. Once car has been thru tech the only item that can be checked is tire air pressure. Any other alterations will be penalized with a one lap penalty and will have to go thru qualifying pre-tech again. Any cars that go thru pre-qualifying tech and found to have a problem will have to fix the problem and go thru pre-qualifying tech again, In addition you will lose a lap. If you fail to make it back thru before the allowed time limit you will not be allowed to qualify and will start in the rear. Pre qualifying tech will close ten minutes before qualifying begins. If car is not thru pre tech you will not qualify and start at the rear of the field. Air tanks, and air gauges are the only tools allowed during qualifying, no push vehicles or other equipment other than previously listed will be allowed on pit road. Once the first car has taken its first lap of qualifying any cars that are not on pit road or arrive after the first car has proceeded onto track will not qualify unless approval has been given by technical official beforehand. Qualifying session will be green white checker. No team members will be allowed around the cars once qualifying is completed however Driver must stay with car at all times until qualifying is completed. Teams are responsible for scuffing there tires during the regular practice sessions. There will not be a scuff session. WE ARE AT THE SCALES ALL DAY, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HAVING THE WRONG WEIGHT ETC.

Impound Race qualifying procedures. Once car is on track for qualifying run team cannot go near car when it returns, no air pressure check tape removal etc. TEAM MEMBERS CANNOT STEP OFF OF CONCRETE PORTION OF PIT ROAD ONCE CAR GOES OUT TO QUALIFY. Failure to follow these rules will have the car start at the rear of the field. If you have to work on your car after qualifying you will start at the rear of the field. Officials will announce when teams can check tire pressures and remove tape, this is usually right before the driver gets in their car for the feature, if driver introductions are being made it will be at that time.

Qualifying Everyone will get 2 laps to qualify. Once you have taken the green flag your time has started, once you have taken the white flag you have a time. There will be no requalifying. Non- qualifiers will start at the rear. Fast qualifier in all divisions will draw for invert 6, 8 or 10.

Pitting Procedure: You must stay single file behind the pace car during the cautions unless you are coming to the pits. You may pull to the inside to pit only after the pace car picks up the field and do not pull down until you reach the start/finish line behind the pace car. All cars that go to the pits under yellow must re-start at the tail of the field.

Spotters: Spotters are mandatory for Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, and Modifieds, Radios are allowed in Sportsman, Mini Stock and Super Stock. Spotters are required to be in the designated spotters stand during the race. Spotters must have the ability to listen to race control via a standard electronic scanner at all times during the event. The frequency is 468.862.5. Spotter must have their team’s car number in full view on their visible clothing. If a spotter is not on the spotters stand prior to the race starting the car will be black flagged and held in the pits until the team spotter is in the designated spotters stand.

ANTIFREEZE No antifreeze, water wetter etc. is allowed. If found in car during race due to crash etc, team forfeits points and payout for that night.

Tires NO SOAKING OF TIRES IS ALLOWED. The tires you qualify on must be the tires you race with that night. Any tires found illegal will be confiscated and team will be disqualified and start at the rear of the field for that nights race and have to purchase a new set of tires. Tires can only be used that are purchased from New Smyrna Speedway. Proof of purchase must be shown. During a tire impound race you cannot change a tire unless it is flat and approved by an official.

Tire Impound Procedure Tires will be released from the impound area to teams prior to qualifying. Teams will be called up in groups of ten to install your first set of tires Two more used tires will be allowed in your pit location to be used as replacement tires for flats incurred during the race, NO ADDITIONAL TIRES WILL BE ALLOWED, ANY UNAUTHORIZED TIRES FOUND IN YOUR PIT AREA WILL HAVE TEAM DISQUALIFIED AND BLACK FLAGGED. If at any time an official finds a discrepancy in how a team handles the tire procedure this will cause that team to be disqualified or a minimum of having the tires in question confiscated and the team having to purchase a new set. Pit road procedures. Cars located in the infield can only enter pit road from the entrance directly opposite the technical building. Cars can exit pit road at the first opening once you come off of track or at the exit that is down towards turn one. Cars needing to go to their location on “the hill” can only cross the track in the middle of the back straightaway. All cars that are located on the hill or outside the track on the back straightaway must enter the track only from the turn four opening. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU ENTER PIT ROAD FROM THE TOP ENTRANCE.

Initial Start and Re-Starts: All starts and restarts will be double file in turn four. When the lights go out on the pace car, that's the speed we are coming to the box. NO SPEEDING OR SLOWING DOWN. The original start will be from the flagman. Restarts-the leader has the option to choose inside or outside. It is the leaders option to start the race when his car gets to the first line. If he has not started the race by the second line the flagman will wave the green flag. If you jump you will be blacked flagged. Come down pit road and tag the rear of the field.

Yellow Flag: There will be no racing back to the caution. When the yellow flag is displayed, the field is frozen and all cars must hold their position. All cars must slow to a caution pace and bunch up as quickly as safety allows so safety crews can work on track. All cars must get single file and stay single file. Cars will revert to their position from the previous green flag lap. ONCE SAFETY PERSONNEL IS ONLY THE TRACK NO WEAVING BACK AND FORTH IS ALLOWED, IF IT IS DONE YOU WILL BE BLACKFLAGGED AND SENT TO THE PITS FOR CONSULTATION AND RESTART AT THE REAR OF THE FIELD THE FIRST TIME, SECOND TIME YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FOR THE NIGHT. NO WEAVING BACK AND FORTH ON PIT ROAD AT ANY TIME, THIS WILL BE AN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION

You cannot go a lap down as long as you make it out before the green.

Lap cars to the rear.

Free pass will be given out till 5 to go on races 50 laps and lower. Above 50 laps 10 to go.

NO BEATING AND BANGING under yellow or after the race. You will be parked or scored at the rear of the field.

100 lap race we will score first three yellow laps. Last 10 under green.

50 and 100 lap race procedures. Caution laps will be scored until the final ten laps. With ten laps to go all lead lap cars will move to the front of the field. If a driver wishes to dispute his position they are to position their car beside the car they are disputing their position with. The race director will notify the team spotter by radio which position the car is in. Any cars that bring out a caution three times during the race will be black flagged and will not be allowed to return to the racing surface.

Red Flag: All cars must stop as quickly and safely as possible when the red flag is displayed. Drivers may go to the pits for crews to work on their cars, but only after the officials have given them permission to do so. All cars that go to the pits under red must re-start at the tail of the field. Restart Line-Up: Restarts will always take place coming off of turn 4. The restarts will be double file with lapped cars in the position they were in prior to the caution.

Slow Cars: Slow cars must stay on the bottom in the presence of lead lap cars during the race. On restarts, lapped cars that create problems for lead lap cars may be penalized with a stop and go penalty. Lapped cars that make problems for the lead lap cars, that have no legitimate shot of getting their lap back, will be penalized. Lapped cars should let the leaders go by on the outside and then resume racing. Lapped cars that fail to stay low, and are repeatedly passed on the inside during the race may be penalized. Cars fighting to stay on the lead lap are not forced to yield to the leaders until the leader has passed them. Slow cars that are unable to run at a competitive speed will black flagged at the discretion of the Race Director.

Cars Involved in the Caution: Only the car(s) directly involved in bringing out the caution will go to the tail of the field unless decided otherwise by the Race Director. Rough driving will not be tolerated. If contact with a car causes a yellow flag, and the contact is not a “racing incident”, that car will also be sent to the tail. The race director exclusively will be responsible for determining responsibility for the caution and any cars that may be penalized by moving them to the tail.

Driver can not get out of car until safety workers arrive unless it is a safety issue. Driver can not approach another car or driver. Failure to do so will draw a penalty.

In accordance with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Rule Book: During an Event, if a race car is involved in an on track incident and / or is stopped on or near the racing surface and unable to make forward progress, unless extenuating emergency conditions exist with the race car (i.e. fire, smoke, in cockpit, etc.) the driver should take the following steps:

Shut off electrical power and, if driver is uninjured, lower window net do not loosen, disconnect or remove any driver personal safety equipment until directed to do so by safety personnel or a Track Official. After being directed to exit the car, the driver should proceed to the ambulance other vehicle or as directed by safety personnel or Track Official.

At no time should a driver or crew member (s) approach any portion of the racing surface or apron.

At no time should a driver or crew member approach another moving vehicle.

All vehicles not involved in the incident or that are able to continue afterwards should slow down to a cautious speed as outlined, use extreme care as thery approach an incident scene and follow any directions given by safety personnel or track officials. Cars in line behind the safety car should not weave or otherwise stray from the line in the vicinity of the incident.

Pit Allocations: Pit locations are assigned based on how you qualify on 50 or more lap races.

Pitting Procedure: You must stay single file behind the pace car during the cautions unless you are coming to the pits. You may pull to the inside to pit only after the pace car picks up the field and do not pull down until you reach the start/finish line behind the pace car. All cars that go to the pits under yellow must re-start at the tail of the field. Pit Road Speed: The pace car will designate the pit road speed for cars on pit road, both entering and exiting. Cars may not pass the pace car at anytime (unless directed to do so by the race director). No scuffing tire or weaving back and forth on pit road at any time.

Finish: After the white flag has been given we are coming back to Checkers. If there is a problem the yellow flag will be given with the green flag. Race to the finish. If the track is blocked the red flag will be displayed. We will then finish green-white-checkered. Top 3 finishers will stop on the front stretch for post race ceremony. Driver will then drive car to the scales and will stay until the car has been scaled

Post Race: The first place finisher must go to the front-stretch immediately following the completion of the race. No crewmembers may touch the car unless they are directed to by officials. Crews may work on the cars only when directed to by officials.

PAYOUT Payout on the same night as the race will be in cash, if you do not collect your payout on the same night as the race you will receive a check.

Nobody is allowed on top of haulers that are located in the infield unless you have a rail. All lights must be off that project outside haulers if they interfere with viewing the race from the grandstands.

No one is allowed on the viewing stand that is located by the Quarter Midget Track.

EMS is located on the inside of turn four. If you need assistance from EMS when on track and are going to go down pit road stop at the first entrance.

Oil Drain tank is located at the center of the lower pits at the middle intersection.

All races all classes are allowed one pound per lap after the race.

If team goes to a back up car, car will have to go thru full technical inspection prior to practicing, qualifying and racing.

Top three cars must proceed to tech after race.

No personal vehicles are allowed inside the race track.

Please watch your speed in the pits including ATVs, No one under sixteen is allowed to operate an ATV, golf cart bicycle etc. in the pits. All ATVS must have the team car number displayed.
