Ms. Carter’s Weekly Write-Up Week of April 24, 2017 ~ Week of May 8, 2017

READING:  One block will be working on specific language skills using the spelling program. I have selected: o Unit 31 ~ Words Writers Use o Unit 32 ~ Suffixes (ous, ish, ant, ic) o Unit 33 ~ Synonyms and Antonyms  The second block will be used for reading o Week 1 ~ reader’s theatre o Week 2 ~ Station’s (comprehension, writing, vocabulary, conferencing and IXL) o Week 3 ~ Independent Reading w/ Literature Activity Choice Board

~DOL Week 26, 27 and 28 our assessments will be on Thursday ~Reading logs are due on Friday ~Vocabulary words: TEST ON FRIDAY Week 1: instigate: (v) to provoke or start sluggish: (adj) slow in movement or action Week 2: stamina: (n) strength or energy to keep doing something for a long time desolate: (adj) isolated; deserted Week 3: admonish: (v) to scold or warn gently hodgepodge: (n) a mixture or jumble WRITING: During our Tuesday writing block Mrs. Frost will be coming in to teach lessons around social skills

SOCIAL STUDIES: The Economy unit is winding down. Student will complete the Economy unit this week and taking the assessment. From there we will be:  Unit 1 Chapter 2: Native Americans. If time permits we will be moving on to Chapter 3: The Age of Exploration. Please watch the assignment book for any nightly work.
