Sunday, January 25, 2015 – Kendade 305, 7– 8 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. eastern time by the chair, Cathleen Pruden. The members noted above were present.

1. Welcome and Announcements

 Ms. Pruden brought the meeting to order.

2. Approval of Minutes (Nicole Perkins)

 It was VOTED that the minutes of the Sunday, November 30th, 2014 and January 19, 2015 minutes be approved as written.

3. Hazing Form (Nicole Perkins)

 The new SAAC members were asked to fill out the hazing form available on the Five College website by the next meeting.

4. Adidas Contract Questions (Cathleen and Anna)

 Questions raised were “Can equestrian order things that are not Adidas?” because Adidas does not make thick jackets as necessary for the sport, and how do they go MHC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes Sunday, January 25, 2015 Page No. 2 ______about getting those jackets, as asked by Laura Von der Porten. Katie Tyler asked when swimming will be able to order team specific gear. SAAC was told that they could email any questions regarding Adidas before the next meeting.

5. Peck School Update

 Volleyball visited last week and field hockey this week. Corina is making a set schedule to work around season schedules. Golf, tennis, and soccer will visit in the next three weeks if possible.

6. D3 Week Brainstorm (E-Board)

 Katie Poulin suggested writing about professors and sports – create collaborations to get professors more involved in the athletics department and to make more people aware of people who were previously student athletes. Ellie De Leon suggested that we do something in Kendall to make D3 week visible – signs or posters to make people aware that D3 week is happening. Cathleen Pruden suggested chalking around campus. Someone else suggested a movie screening with a movie about a sport that we don’t have at MHC. Summer Hutcheson suggested a hashtag. Further ideas included a community service project to highlight giving back to the community, a social event combined with ADAP and WHMC, and tailgating the lacrosse game.

7. Spring Admit Event (Claire Fahrner and Nicole Perkins)

 We discussed possibilities of making a tournament to get spring admit students involved in athletics and the people invited to the tournament would be the spring admits and captains or SAAC reps and as many team members as possible to make them feel included.

8. Welcoming Sandy

 A poster was placed in the back of the meeting room for all SAAC members to sign before leaving.

9. Shelby Update and Calendar (Claire Fahrner)

 A Google Doc was emailed out so teams can sign up for a slot to send things to Shelby.

10. Athletes Love to Read (Ellie)

 The alumna relations subcommittee was disbanded and members of the committee were reassigned to community service or marketing and promotions.

12. Health and Safety

 ADAP will be showing The Hungry Heart on the 28th of January in gamble at 7pm. The nutritionist is scheduled to come February 2nd.

13. Next Game of the Week

 Basketball, January 31st 2015 vs Wellesley

14. Next Meeting: February 8, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. (Kendade 305)

 The meeting was adjourned by Ms. Pruden at 7:46 p.m.
