OPEN TICKETS (Point to Point) FARES REQUEST TOOL

USER MANUAL

1. About Open Ticket ?  valid for a single Rail journey from one destination to another.  valid to travel in 27 European countries (inc. Great Britain).  only valid on a specific route, i.e. as per the Vias mentioned on the ticket.  1st and 2nd class. (see also Eurailticket product fact sheet on RE4A Extranet for more details)

2. Point to Point (Open Tickets) in Euronet  main common routes are available to book in Euronet.  when a route is not available in Euronet, a request has to be sent to Rail Europe (RE4A) Paris. Rail Europe will calculate the fare and load the route into Euronet (if acceptable).  the fare request must be sent using a dedicated tool, called “Murphy” .  to make sure your request is valid, please read carefully the Rules & Regulations (see point 5.).

3. How to access Murphy ?  this tool is accessible through your Rail Europe Extranet (www.raileurope.fr).  once you are on the Extranet, select P2P Fares Request under Products section.

 the Login/Password screen is displayed. Enter your login & password to access the P2P fares request tool. Click on Connect. LOGIN & PASSWORD are similar to your Euronet-2 Login and Password.

 your Point to Point fares Request window is displayed.  click on New Request to send a new fare request.  click on View Previous request to view all requests you have already sent to RE4A. You can here also check your requests status (see point 5. How to check status of your request).

4. How to proceed to send a new fare request ?  click on New Request (please wait few seconds before the New Request window is displayed).  select the Product type; i.e. Britrail or Eurail Point to Point.  select Country & City of Departure (compulsory fields).  select Country & City of Arrival (compulsory fields).  click on Validate.

Two possibilities :  If the city pair you have entered is not included in Euronet yet, the “Create a new route” window will be displayed (see 4.1 below).  If the city pair already exists in Euronet, the system will display the route (s) already loaded in Euronet. You can then select the route you want to modify (see 4.2. below).

4.1. Create a new route  the route requested is not available in Euronet.  below screen is displayed:

 you must here specify both Station of Departure & Station of Arrival.  you must also enter the Vias (see point 6. Rules & Regulations).  if you wish to write a message to RE4A together with your request, use the Message to Rail Europe box.  click on Send Request.  your request has been sent to RE4A. RE4A will check your request is acceptable. If so, the route will be added into Euronet  if your request is valid/acceptable, it should be loaded in Euronet within 02 days. However, we cannot always guarantee this deadline : always check the status of your requests in the View Previous Request section (see point. 5) so to be informed as soon as the route has been loaded in Euronet (or refused).

4.2. Modify an existing route / city pair  the city pair you have requested is already included in Euronet.  the list of routes that are already available in Euronet is displayed: you can view here the routes already available in Euronet, but also:  the routes that have been requested by other GSAs and denied; i.e. it can not be loaded, it is not necessary to send your request. The status of these routes is Already requested and refused (Red coloured in the table)  the routes that are currently requested to RE4A by another GSA ; if acceptable, this route will be available in Euronet shortly; i.e. you do not need to send your request. The status of these routes is Currently Requested (Orange coloured in the table)

If you need to modify one of the existing routes, proceed as follows:  from the Select a route scroll down menu, you must select the route for which you require a modification (select the route number as per number showing in the 1st column).  you must then specify the details of your request in the corresponding field Specify your modification request (e.g. you want to add another via; you need another station of departure / arrival …).  click on Send Request.  your request has been sent to RE4A. RE4A will check your request is acceptable. If so, the route will be added into Euronet.

If no existing route matches your needs, select None in the Select a route scroll down menu. Then specify the full details of your request in the corresponding field Specify your modification request.

5. How to check the status of your recent requests - connect to Murphy tool (see point 3.). - click on View previous requests. - the list of routes you have requested is displayed (N.B. the requests will be deleted after one month).

- 3 type of Status : - Loaded into Euronet (green): the route is now available in system. You can check the fares in Euronet and issue the ticket. - Refused (brown): Request has been denied. See reasons of the refusal in RE4A Message column. - On Hold (orange): Your request is being processed. Please check again later.

6. Rules & Regulations / Questions & Answers

Q. Can you still send an email to request a route to be loaded ? A. From now on, RE4A will only calculate and load fares that are requested through Murphy tool, i.e. no emails on the subject will be accepted, nor answered

Q. Can RE4A calculate fare for any European countries / cities ? A. RE4A can only calculate open tickets fares as per the Countries / Cities listed in Murphy; i.e. any fare request from/to a Country or a City that is not included in the respective scroll down menus cannot be loaded.

Q. Can you request a different station of departure/arrival than those available in Euronet for a selected city pair ? Q The routes are loaded as per Eurail conditions, i.e. exactly as per Eurailticket fares booklet; e.g. when there is a unique fare from/to a city (valid for all stations) RE4A will not add “valid for all stations” on the ticket (e.g. Berlin, Venezia (Venezia S.L. valid both from Santa Lucia and Mestre) …)

Q. Is it possible to request a route without mentioning any Vias ? A. Vias are compulsory for any route in Europe. For International sectors, frontier points must be specified on tickets (compulsory). All requests submitted without any vias will be denied. Exception = no vias needed in following cases: - when there is only ONE possible route to go from point A to point B (e.g. Paris to Lyon or very short sectors). This does not apply to International sectors as border points must be printed on ticket. - ALL routes within Great Britain

Q How can I find the Vias for a selected route ? A Checking the Vias actually means checking the itineraries of the trains running on a specific route. You can check the itineraries of the trains using the following tools: - Railways website (see website list on Extranet) - Thomas Cook timetable - Eurailticket map (very helpful for Frontier points)

Example: how to check Vias on the Swiss Railways website ( www.sbb.ch ) ? Route = Muenchen-Venezia

1. when requesting the schedules for a specific route/day, different options will be displayed

2. to check the details of the route (and see the different vias), you must click on Journey Guide : you can then see the different vias, including border cities.
