A RESOLUTION Honoring Sherman Price on the Occasion of His 100Th Birthday

A RESOLUTION honoring Sherman Price on the occasion of his 100th birthday. WHEREAS, Sherman Guthrie Price was born in Auburn, Kentucky, on February 8, 1914, the cherished son of the late Samuel Fielding and Maude Adams Price; and WHEREAS, after working with the Auburn Leather Company and Emerson Electric in Alton, Illinois, Sherman Price took over his family farm in Russellville in 1947. He was one of the first Kentucky farmers to establish double-cropping in the early 1950s. A charter member of the American Angus Association and a past member of the Belgian Draft Horse Association and the National Walking Horse Association, Mr. Price has spent more than five decades doing what he loves; and WHEREAS, Sherman Price is a greeter at the New Union Baptist Church. He humbly gives God the credit for his livestock and for the time he has spent on this earth, and has always imparted the wisdom that what you see is what counts, imploring the people he meets to look at the world and carefully study what is before them; and WHEREAS, Sherman Price was married for 62 years to his late wife, Ruth Margaret Hall Price. Together the couple had two children, Sandra Bradshaw and the late Margaret Elaine Alcott. He has five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and six great- great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, this honorable body commends those Kentuckians who have made a special mark on the lives of their fellow citizens. Sherman Price, being one of the most talented farmers in this Commonwealth and a foundation of his home community of Russellville, is hereby honored by this body for a life well-lived, and offered best wishes as he celebrates his 100th birthday; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate hereby honors Sherman Guthrie Price upon the occasion of his 100th birthday, and commends him for the legacy he will leave as a farmer and as a

man of God.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Sherman Guthrie Price.

 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator David Givens for delivery.
