12. Statement of Intellectual and Professional Interest: Attach a typewritten essay of approximately 1,000 words in length, telling us about your intellectual and professional interest. Specifically address the following: What ideas and concerns have prompted you to pursue advanced studies in rural sociology? How do these relate to your plans for graduate study? How do they relate to your career plans? Give considerable thought to this statement, for it will be weighed heavily as a part of your application for admission.
