[545-2] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF 12 TRANSPORTATION NAME THE INTERSECTION LOCATED 13 AT THE JUNCTURE OF SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS 76 14 AND 576 AT WAHEE ROAD IN MARION COUNTY 15 “ROBERT J. MCINTYRE, SR. INTERSECTION” AND ERECT 16 APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS 17 INTERSECTION THAT CONTAIN THE WORDS “ROBERT J. 18 MCINTYRE, SR. INTERSECTION”. 19 20 Whereas, Robert J. McIntyre, Sr. was born on May 10, 1918, at 21 the McIntyre farm “Sunnyside” in the Wahee community of 22 Marion County. Except for military service, Mr. McIntyre lived 23 all of his life at the McIntyre family home in Wahee; and 24 25 Whereas, he was a farmer and Game Warden with the S.C. 26 Department of Natural Resources (known as the S.C. Wildlife 27 Resources Department at the time of his death in 1956); and 28 29 Whereas, he married Dorothy Lee Dozier on January 9, 1944, and 30 they had four children: Robin McIntyre Moseley, Robert Joseph 31 McIntyre, Jr., Betsy McIntyre Roberts, and Alexander Douglas 32 McIntyre; and 33 34 Whereas, today his wife Dorothy and three of their four children 35 still live on the McIntyre farm in Wahee; and 36 37 Whereas, Mr. McIntyre tragically drowned in the Little Pee Dee 38 River during his work day as a Game Warden on September 17, 39 1956; and 40

[545] 3 1 Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to remember this son of 2 South Carolina by naming an intersection in Marion County in his 3 honor. Now, therefore, 4 5 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives 6 concurring: 7 8 That the members of the General Assembly request that the 9 Department of Transportation name the intersection located at the 10 juncture of South Carolina Highways 76 and 576 at Wahee Road 11 in Marion County “Robert J. McIntyre, Sr. Intersection” and erect 12 appropriate markers or signs at this intersection that contain the 13 words “Robert J. McIntyre, Sr. Intersection”. 14 15 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 16 the family of Robert J. McIntyre, Sr. 17 XX 18
