Dick Yarbrough is in his 15th as a syndicated newspaper columnist. His column reaches more than half-million households and over one million readers weekly, making him the most widely-syndicated columnist in the state.

The Georgia Press Association has twice recognized him with a first place award for his humor columns.

Dick retired as vice president of BellSouth Corporation in 1993. He then joined the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games as a managing director, reporting directly to Billy Payne, the organization’s CEO. In recognition of his career, PR WEEK magazine named him one of the One Hundred Most Influential Public Relations Practitioners of the 20 th Century . Georgia Trend magazine twice named him one of the “100 Most Influential People in Georgia.” This year, James Magazine has named him “one of Georgia’s Power Brokers for 2013.”

Dick Yarbrough is a graduate of the University of Georgia, past president of the National Alumni Association and has been named the university’s Outstanding Alumnus. He is a Fellow of Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications at UGA and has a room named in his honor at the college.

In March, Governor Nathan Deal appointed Mr. Yarbrough to the State Board of Juvenile Justice, representing Georgia’s 7th District. Eastman YDC – Dr. Roy Davenport

JAMES E. BOLES JR (LT COL, RETIRED)

Lieutenant Colonel James E. Boles Jr. (Ret) is the Site Team Manager for Contracting at the Carl Vinson Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Dublin, Georgia. As Site Team Manager for Contracting, Mr Boles is responsible for procurement of critical medical supplies, equipment, systems, and medical and non-medical services for nearly over 750,000 veterans in the middle Georgia area. Colonel Boles was born in Beaufort, South Carolina, where he graduated from Beaufort High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1990. Colonel Boles would later earn his Masters of Science Degree in Human Resource Development from Bowie State University, Bowie Maryland. In July 1991, he was assigned to Royal Air Force Base (RAF) Woodbridge/Bentwaters, United Kingdom, 91st Tactical Fighter Squadron; A-10 (Warthogs), as the squadron Executive Officer. Colonel Boles was later assigned to the 7th Special Operations Squadron at RAF Alconbury, United Kingdom, as Chief of Current Operations/Plans and Exercises for the 7th Special Operations Squadron. During his tour at RAF Alconbury, he was deployed in support of Operations PROVIDE PROMISE and SUPPORT HOPE (Rwanda). He was later selected to the Education With Industry (EWI) program where he partnered with private industry (ITT Night Vision Division) located in Roanoke, VA as an intern for one year. Immediately, following his internship he was assigned to the San Antonio Air Logistics Center at Klly Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. There he served as Contracts Manager in the Ground Support Equipment and F-100 Engine Directorates. Later, Colonel Boles was reassigned to serve as the Chief, Contracting for the Capabilities Development Division in the Defense eBusiness Program office at Headquarters Defense Logistics Agency (HQ DLA). As Chief, he was responsible for the acquisition strategy, source selections, and contractual milestone accomplishments for new and developmental eBusiness based programs. After his HQ DLA tour, Colonel Boles was reassigned to serve as Commander, Contract Training Flight, 345th Training Squadron, 37 Training Wing, Lackland, Air Force Base, Texas. During his tour at Lackland, he was responsible for the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) training for more than 1300 students (Officer, Enlisted and Civilians) annually. In 2005, Colonel Boles was assigned to Brooks City Base, Texas to serve as the Deputy Chief, Systems Contracting Division for the Human Systems Group. As Deputy Division Chief, he advised the 300 person group on all contractual matters pertaining to development, production, and sustainment of human-centered systems. In 2006, he relocated to Warner Robins Air Force Base; where he has held duty assignments as the Chief, C-5 Sustainment Contracting Section; Chief, Major Programs and Services Contracting Flight for the Support Equipment and Vehicles Contracting Division and currently serves as the Chief, Electronic Warfare and Avionics Contracting Branch. In December 2007, Lt Col Boles deployed for 365 days to Mosul, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. As Chief, Regional Contracting Center-Mosul; Multi-National Division North, he led a joint 8- person contingency contracting team supporting three (3) Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) and more than 50 Combat Operating Post (COPs) directly supporting more than 40K personnel. His team procured everything from water delivery, hydrology studies, construction/reconstruction, airfield repair and public works services. In 2008, Colonel Boles returned to Georgia to become the Chief of the Electronic Warfare and Avionics Contracting Branch; Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. As contracting branch chief he was responsible for logistics and sustainment support for Electronic Warfare and Avionics systems world-wide across DoD and Foreign Military Sales. Colonel Boles retired in November 2011and began his civilian career working for the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) at Fort Meade, Maryland as the Chief of the Simplified Acquisition Branch. Mr Boles was solely responsible for all simplified acquisitions that fell below $6.5M as well as the White House Communication procurements which ensured the President of the United States had secure and clear communication at all times. I attended and graduated with honors at the age of 16 from Atlanta Public Schools (West Fulton High School). I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology (Magna Cum Laude) from Southern University and A & M College (1994) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At Southern University I was a member of the Women’s Basketball Team, an All-American Scholar, National Honor Society of Psychology, National Dean’s List and Who’s Who Among America’s College and University Students. I later earned a Master’s in Education (2000), a Specialist in Educational Leadership (2004) and a Doctoral Degree (2007) in Educational Leadership and Administration from Clark Atlanta University maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

I’ve worked as an Educator for students with disabilities for the past 17 years. I served as Instructional Leader/Administrator for Clayton County Schools (Forest Park Middle School; Lovejoy High School and Mundy’s Mill High School); Fulton County Schools (Banneker High School) and Atlanta Public Schools (Harper-Archer Middle School and BEST Academy for Boys). I presently work as Director of Instructional Programs for Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), where I facilitate Federal and State compliance and the education of students with disabilities for Georgia’s DJJ. I also facilitate on-line learning for Masters level students as an Adjunct Professor for Saint Leo University.

In the community, I am a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women of Georgia and Order of Eastern Star. I have been a member of Pilgrim Travelers Baptist Church since I was six years old. I serve as Director of Music Ministry and Praise & Worship Leader, Church Secretary, New Members Class Facilitator and Substitute Church School Teacher.

I believe my most important job is to be MOM to Jahmad (17 years old) and Zoe (5 years old). My education philosophy is “Teaching is an ART of the HEART” and ALL children can learn; not at the same rate or ability; but they must learn! Carlos Barrow – Atlanta YDC

Dr. Thomas L. Coleman (Congressional District 4)

Dr. Thomas L. Coleman is a volunteer commissioner with the DeKalb County Housing Authority and a retired Air Force officer and Vietnam veteran with more than 25 years of service. Dr. Coleman earned his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University and a Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Administration from Atlanta University. He served four years as a Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Juvenile Justice over Programs and Education and is a former Director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
