Safe Work Procedure

1 Inspect the area to be mowed Be sure area is clear of pets and people. Mow only in daylight or good artificial light.Clear the area to be mowed of any debris such as rocks, toys, wire, or anything that may be picked up or thrown by the mower. 2 Verify operators qualifications--Wear all No one may operate the mower unless fully personal protective equipment trained by the head grounds keeper.---- Personal protective equipment (PPE) should include the following; Safety goggles, long trousers, hearing protection 3 Lower ramps on trailer (assuming mower is on Assess muscle strength, make sure you are trailer ) capable of bearing the weight of the ramp.-- Buddy system, one person holds ramp while a buddy removes pin securing ramp--Lifting techniques, lower ramp slowly, keep back straight, bend knees--Be careful not to pinch fingers under ramp. 4 Loosen winches securing mower Use care when working with chains and winches

Back tractor down the ramps 6 Engage Power Take-Off (PTO) Throttle down to idle or lowest engine speed prior to engaging PTO 7 Cut the lawn Proper operating procedure should be followed with regard to speed--Watch for low branches, ditches, large potholes--Slow down before turning--If tires lose traction disengage PTO--If on a slope,head down--Never mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary. Always look behind and down for pets or children. 8 Leaving operators position Park on level ground--Disengage PTO--Set the parking brake--Shut off engine and remove the key 9 Return tractor to truck. Disengage PTO, Set the parking brake, turn off engine and remove key. 10 Secure tractor to trailer with chains and Use care when working with chains and winches winches 11 Raise ramps on trailers Assess muscle strength, make sure you are capable of bearing the weight of the ramp-- Buddy system Two people lift the ramp, one person holds the ramp while the second person inserts pin to secure ramp--Lifting techniques, raise ramp slowly, keep back straight, bend knees
