All About Me Essay
Purpose/Goals: To begin the year, we would like to learn about you while at the same time reviewing important writing skills. In order to accomplish this goal, you will be writing an essay on which you are an expert— yourself. We will be going through all of the steps that will be involved in a typical writing piece throughout the year—researching, brainstorming, preplanning, drafting, revising, and publishing. Requirements:
1. Researching: For this piece we are going to gather information about ourselves!
2. Brainstorming: You are required to create and turn in a “30 Facts About Myself” list that will help you compile ideas and think about what you want to share/write!
3. Preplanning: You will create a basic plan for your essay by organizing your ideas into a five paragraph essay.
4. Drafting/Revising: You will write a rough draft to be submitted for revision by a peer.
5. Editing: We will peer edit to check for proper grammar, usage and mechanics.
6. Publishing: A typed, final draft will be turned in for a 100 point test grade.

Notes & Reminders:
Your essay should be five paragraphs long.
Introduction and conclusion paragraphs should be 6-8 sentences.
Each body paragraph should be 8-10 sentences.
The entire essay should be a minimum of one page and maximum two pages. 30 Facts About Mrs. Luongo
1. My family is extremely important to me. 2. I love that we have the joys of raising a son and a daughter. Two different worlds. Equally adventurous. 3. I have had the same five best friends for over 20 years. 4. I love sports even though I’m not particularly good at any of them. 5. My children are my greatest blessings; I would do anything for them. 6. I have traveled to Spain, France and Mexico. 7. Mr. L and I biked down a volcano and hiked 6 miles in a rainforest in Hawaii. Just awesome! 8. I am loyal to people I love and believe in. 9. I am independent and have a difficult time asking for help. 10. I love to write and have piles of journals of my writing through the years. 11. I try to live each day without regrets; I often reflect that life is too short to be bitter about the past. 12. I love every season for a myriad of reasons except winter. I only love it for two reasons: Christmas and hockey. 13. One of the reasons I love teaching is because it makes me laugh usually at least once every day. 14. I don’t like going in water over my head. 15. I love the smell of books, and I remember sniffing them in my elementary school library. Haha 16. My BF and I jumped on an airplane and took off for LA for the weekend. Spontaneously. Fun trip with no sleep! 17. I am very open-minded; I am not in the business to judge others. 18. I have ridden on the back of motorcycles since I was 13. It is fun! 19. I left my parents’ house at age 17 and always lived on my own; I lived in 8 different places! 20. I always wanted to be a make up artist or a personal trainer. 21. Even though I appear calm, sometimes I am totally freaking out on the inside. 22. I love to workout; my favorite is kickboxing – it makes me feel strong!! 23. I was in the Homecoming Court/Parade for my high school. I wasn’t crowned queen – but my friend was! 24. My English teachers were my favorite teachers in HS/College. 25. My husband’s distant cousin is Roberto Luongo, goalie for Florida Panthers. 26. I am very sensitive and I don’t like to cry. This is a challenging combination!! 27. One of the scariest times in my life was when my younger brother almost died. Thirteen hours of open heart surgery….ugh. 28. The person I admire most in this world is my dad. 29. I think Batman is really cool. Like really cool. 30. When I am in a bad mood, sunshine and fresh air usually snaps me out of it. 31. I can’t live without coffee.
