Course Description: An further exploration into to the art of digital photography. Students will expand their skills in this art form learning new techniques in the required software and exploring other digital options online.
Course Overview:
Digital Photography II expand upon the basic the steps necessary for making a good image, processing it digitally, and sharing that message through an online platform. The class includes lecture, demonstrations, movies, shooting in the field, and group critique. With the basics behind them this course allows students to fully develop their creative abilities and stretch their imaginations.

Successfully transfer and edit images in Assignments, critique Photo Elements 11
Appreciate new methods in editing, Discussion, critique, photographic quality manipulating, and presenting their imagery. Understand the various genres in Discussion, movies, online presentations by photography and develop their own other artists, and portfolio presentation specific style. Understand the basic changes in the Discussion, critique, portfolio presentation world of photography and appreciate the significance of the printed and digital image.
Materials List:
1. A camera 10 megapixels or more, preferably with a manual mode. 2
2. Camera memory (flash card, memory stick, etc.), transfer cable, camera manual. (Most manuals are found online.) 3. Adobe Photo Elements 11. This can be purchased at stores or online at www.adobe.com 4. Recommended Text: Nevada Photographer: A Guide to the Rural Regions by Cynthia Delaney. (available at the Great Basin College Bookstore, Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, Western Folklife Center, California Trail Center (Elko). 5. Recommended text: Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for Photographers by Philip Andrews. Available at Amazon.com
Attendance: This is an online course that moves along in weekly modules consisting of lectures, assignments, discussions, and imagery processing. Your regular attention to the lessons is required complete this course successfully.
Assignments: All assignments, discussions, and critiques are expected on time. Do not wait until the last minute to submit your work. All imagery used in this class must be photographed during the course of this semester.
Points:
This course is based on a total of 100 points. The point breakdown can be seen in your online course in each module and in your course grades.
Grades:
90-100%=A 80-89%=B 70-79%=C 60-69%=D Below 60% = F
Incompletes: These will be granted in the case of a lengthy, documented illness or family emergency. I do not assign the grade of “W” after the allowable course drop time. The cutoff date is 28 October.
