A Message from the Headteacher Following an exciting Selection Day of interviews and confidence-building business exercises on 6 December 2018, we have been notified that six of our Sixth Form students have been awarded Dream Placements within prestigious local businesses. The Dream Placement Scheme gives students an insight into the world of work with a leading Cumbrian employer, giving them a unique opportunity to see how the senior teams and leaders of industry deal with the challenges they face. We will learn more about this exciting opportunity in our first newsletter of 2019, but Headteacher: in the meantime our congratulations go to Gabriel Hodgkins-Webb, Eve Howland, Nikki Hutchman, Georgina Mills, Sophie Ritson and Emily Salkeld. I wish you a very Dr R P Petrie BSc PhD happy and restful Christmas break. a s p i r e Christmas Jumper Day We were once again overwhelmed by the generosity of e n j o y our school community on Christmas Jumper Day where food donations towards the Cockermouth branch of the i n c l u d e North Lakes Food Bank were requested in lieu of the usual £1. Students and staff alike joined in the festivities r e s p e c t adorned in an array of colourful jumpers. Special thanks go to our fabulous Sixth Form Management Team for c o m m u n i t y coordinating the food collection and also for volunteering at the food bank to help sort, label and stack the Issue 4 donations ready for distribution over the coming weeks. Association November 100 club Badminton winners - Congratulations to our boy’s badminton teams who were winners of the Allerdale 1st Mr G Aitcheson £24 Badminton Tournament held at on Thursday 6 December. 70 2nd Mrs Z Brentnall £18 students from Workington Academy, , Nelson Thomlinson School and Cockermouth School played 18 matches, which consisted of 95 games, over a three- 3rd Ms G Hattrick £12 hour period.
