What's it all about? The winner of the 2010 Oscar for best foreign film, The Secret in Their Eyes is directed by Juan Jose Campanella and stars Ricardo Darin (Nine Queens) as Benjamin Esposito, a recently retired criminal court investigator, whose efforts to write a novel are frustrated when he finds himself unable to shake the memories of a 25-year-old murder case. After visiting his ex-superior Irene (Soledad Villamil), who's now a high court judge, Benjamin decides to reinvestigate the case and we flash back to his first view of the crime scene, where a beautiful young woman was raped and murdered. As Benjamin attempts to recall the details of the case, the various events unfold, from the questioning of the victim's troubled husband (Pablo Rago) to the discovery and arrest of a probable suspect (Javier Godino), only for the authorities to subsequently let him go for nefarious purposes of their own.

Raúl Garello – Arlequin Porteño Bandoneon player, band leader and composer (b. 1936). Raúl Garello was born in the city of Chacabuco, in the province of Buenos Aires. He became one of the most important “post-Piazzolla” contemporary tango composers and performers. When he moved to Buenos Aires, he joined the Radio Belgrano tango orchestra where he met Leopoldo Federico, whom he later replaced in Roberto Firpo’s quartet. He accompanied many well- known singers of his time, such as Alberto Moran (he eventually became the band leader for Moran’s tango musicians), and he also played alongside bandoneón players, such as Alfredo de Franco and Osvaldo Piro. His most important and fruitful career move was to join the Aníbal Troilo Orchestra, where he developed his distinctive music style and personality. He started arranging works for orchestra in 1966 (Agustín Bardi's La guiñada for the Baffa- Berlingieri Orchestra; Juan Carlos Cobián's Los mareados for Pichuco's orquesta). He was the arranger and bandoneón player in Pichuco’s famed tango orchestra until Pichuco died in 1975. Since 1980, he has been the co-leader and co-founder of the Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires, a notable responsibility he shares with Maestro Carlos García. On July 9, 1990, he achieved a lifelong goal: He conducted the Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires at the beautiful Colon Theater in Buenos Aires. He reached another pinnacle of success in 1988, when he appeared in the movie, Tango for Two, directed by Hector Olivera. Che, Buenos Aires, one of Garello’s tango that uniquely matches the contemporary mood of Buenos Aires with an intimately personal sound, harmonic richness, and an all encompassing aesthetic beauty.

This catalogue would like to lead the reader into the temptation of discovering the multiple displays of the new Argentine cinema. And when I refer to cinematographic activities I am not only considering those movies that receive awards and have large audiences and prestige in national theatres and international exhibitions.

NEWSLETTER July 17, 2013 "METEGOL" / "FOOSBALL" EMILIO KAUDERER, COMPOSER, SOUNDTRACK OF THE ARGENTINE FILM OF THE YEAR Rarely in the history of Argentina's national cinema has a film aroused so many, with such well- founded expectations. "Metegol" is the magic word that recently hit Argentina's theaters and will mark a milestone in Argentine cinema. "Metegol" is a fantastic 3D animated feature film, directed and produced by Juan José Campanella ("Son of the Bride," "The Secret In Their Eyes"), and was inspired by a story by Roberto Fontanarrosa. With the largest budget in Argentina's cinematic history, it opened on over 240 screens across the country, a rare occurrence for Argentina film releases. "Metegol" is the product of the talent and effort of many Argentines, among whom worth mentioning is Emilio Kauderer. This brilliant Argentine musician with a long and successful international career is the composer of the original music for "Metegol" ("Foosball" in English). Campanella collaborated with Kauderer on numerous films, including "Same Love, Same Rain," "Vientos de Agua" and Oscar winner, "The Secret In Their Eyes." Other film scores by Kauderer include "Miss Bala," "Conversations with God," "Time For Revenge," "High School Musical," and "A Place In The World." Kauderer won a Latin Grammy for the collaboration with Gustavo Santaolalla (Bajo Fondo), and worked with Michael Kamen (Winter Olympics), Plácido Domingo (Washington Opera) and Stewart Copeland ("Dead Like Me"), among others. For the "Metegol" score, Kauderer created original music and included his own arrangements of works by Strauss, Waldteufel and Wagner. • PREMIOS PLATINO Dossier De Prensa 09032015 Eng.Pdf
The Premios Platino for Ibero-American Cinema, promoted by EGEDA (Audiovisual Producers' Rights Management Entity) and FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers), are now in their second year, and the awards ceremony will take place on 18 July in Marbella, Malaga (Spain) at STARLITE. The PLATINO awards are still determined to become one of the most important instruments for promoting and supporting Ibero-American films. An acknowledgement of all the professionals whose affection, hard work and efforts contribute to the whole world being able to enjoy high quality cinema: films made in Ibero-America, with the distinctive imprint of a community as rich and diverse as ours. These awards, which are now writing a new chapter in their history, will emphasise once more the cultural richness of Ibero- America in a global context. They will persevere with their determination to become the major event for the international promotion of Ibero-American cinema, transcending borders and overcoming obstacles to the promulgation of our values and culture, so that both may be recognised abroad, just as they deserve. The Premios PLATINO form an international distribution platform for the promotion of films produced in the region, in which Spanish-speaking countries on the American continent will participate, as well as Brazil, Portugal, Andorra and Spain. 23 countries will take part in this project with a common goal: to create the Ibero-American cinema brand and to form, at last, an alliance that eliminates borders and ultimately encourages the screening of Ibero-American films in cinemas and on televisions throughout the world.
