PostDoc Researcher at the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration 80%

The National Center of Competence in Research nccr – on the move aims to enhance the understanding of contemporary migration patterns. Transcending disciplines, the NCCR brings together research projects from the social sciences, and law. Managed from the University of Neuchâtel, the network comprises eleven Higher Education Institutions in . The is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 15,500 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and . Job information: The starting date is 1 March 2021 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for a duration of 15 months at an activity rate of 80%. The workplace is at the IDHEAP (Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration). The position is guaranteed until 31 May 2022. It is planned to acquire additional funds so that an extension may be possible. The salary is in accordance with the regulations of the Swiss National Science Foundation. The nccr – on the move offers attractive working conditions, including support measures for researchers with childcare duties.

Your responsibilities: The successful applicant is expected to contribute to a research project on Welfare: Inclusion and Solidarity under the supervision of Prof. Giuliano Bonoli, Prof. Flavia Fossati and Prof. Francesco Maiani. The research project analyses attitudes towards redistribution in multiethnic societies. Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations with PostDocs and other nccr – on the move collaborators in the framework of different NCCR events is expected. Regular attendance of events at the University of Neuchâtel, or elsewhere in Switzerland, is also expected.

Your qualifications:You completed a in one of the social sciences, preferably political sciences or sociology, which you defended no later than five years ago (date of viva voce). We look for candidates with excellent knowledge in quantitative methods and experience in social policy research. The candidate should also possess or be willing to develop skills in public attitudes analysis, particularly using survey experiments. Excellent written and oral command of English is required, knowledge of German, French or Italian is an asset.
