Successful Local Bids Congratulations to Pensford Memorial Hall which has been awarded £4,673 from the Big Lottery for new equipment for their play area. Other sources of funding for the project came from: Ward Councillor Paul May who gave £4,000 from his Ward Councillors’ Initative Fund Guilly and Tony Jones who raised £1,000 at a summer garden party event Donations from individuals and local businesses which raised £400, with a further £250 received to match fund this from Local Giving. To find out more about the Aviva Community Fund visit: https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/ Bath & North East Somerset Council Funding Journal – last update 2nd February 2018 Latest Funding Opportunities Name of Fund Description Scott Bader Scott Bader, the global chemical company, provides funds to UK registered charities for charitable projects in the UK and internationally through three different programmes: Large Project Funding Each year we support two – four large, community based environmental or educational projects that benefit young or disadvantaged people to the value of £25,000 each. These can be located anywhere in the world. Deadline is: Friday 9th February 2018 Small International Fund This fund is to provide small grants of £500-£2,000 to support international projects located anywhere in the world. There is no deadline for this, so charities may apply at any time. They also have a third fund for local projects in particular areas but this does not include the South West. http://www.scottbader.com/sustainability/32/how-to-access-funds Queen Elizabeth The aim of the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) is to Scholarships support excellence in British crafts by offering both scholarships and apprenticeships to individuals and employers. The scholarships can be used to fund salaries, further study, training, practical experience and/or materials for up to 3 years for craftsmen and women who want to improve their craft and trade skills. Apprenticeship funding is awarded to fund apprentices, learning craft skills within companies and from master craftsmen and to support employers in funding apprentices in order to nurture a new generation of craftspeople. Funding can contribute towards the apprentice’s salary which should be at least at the level of the minimum wage, training costs and/or materials/tools. Scholarships and apprenticeships can range in value from £5,000 to £18,000 (£6,000 a year for up to 3 years) depending on how much funding is required for a project. There is no requirement for match funding. Eligible applicants should be craftsmen and women of all ages who live and work permanently in the UK. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they already have a high level of skill and are firmly committed to their craft or trade. Proposals must show how the project will contribute to the excellence of modern and traditional British craft. Scholars are required to report to the Trustees on their progress within twelve months of the award. The Scholarship applications process opens twice a year, in January and July respectively. The application period is open for one month only and the assessment stages begin soon after the applications close. The first 2018 application deadline is Monday 12 th February 2018. http://www.qest.org.uk/ The People’s An extremely competitive grants programme that provides short- Postcode Trust term funding for projects that help to prevent poverty, support Community Grants healthy living initiatives and uphold human rights for some of society’s most vulnerable groups. It will also consider projects which help different communities come together for better understanding and community relations. Grassroots organisations, local charities and non-profit community businesses that are seeking to effect positive change within their local area in England, Scotland and Wales are eligible to apply. Grants range from £500 to £20,000 for those in Scotland and England and up to £10,000 for those in Wales. All applicants must be able to provide proof they are a constituted organisation and have an organisation bank account. All registered charities, with an income above £25,000, should have a financial reserves strategy in place. The Trust will consider applications from branches of national charities if the branch has its own charity registration number. Please note, however, that this does not extend to local Wildlife Trusts. Projects will need to demonstrate: • Innovative and tangible impacts • Sustainability: the project will continue to benefit beneficiaries beyond its 12 months • Creative acknowledgement of PPT’s support • Short but clear descriptions of activities and outcomes. The People’s Postcode Trust has a two stage application process. Stage 1 is an Expression of Interest. This stage opens on Wednesday 14 th February and closes on Wednesday 28 th February 2018. Eligible projects will be invited to submit a Full Application (Stage 2). This opens on Wednesday 28 th March and closes to applications on Wednesday 11 th April 2018. Guidance notes and access to the Expression of Interest form should be available any day now. Check the People’s Postcode Trust website for updates. http://www.postcodetrust.org.uk/ The Charities Aid Grants up to £5,000 for UK charitable organisations providing a Foundation Tourle service in the heart of their community. Foundation Fund The CAF Tourle Foundation Fund seeks to award grants to local charitable organisations delivering services for local people in all parts of the UK. Organisations must be able to evidence that their project will be delivered to local people, whilst demonstrating the need and difference it will make. The Fund’s target audiences are small place based charitable organisations providing a service to the heart of their community within the UK. Examples of projects that are eligible for funding include a charitable organisation set up by the community in a village, providing services to older people in isolation; or a small community group on an estate providing drop in sessions for teenagers.
