Barenaked Ladies Saturday October 9th, 2010 7:00PM St. Clair College Lawn 2000 Talbot Rd West Windsor, ON The event is a benefit concert, which will raise funds for state-of-the-art medical equipment to be utilized by students in the new St. Clair College Health Sciences Building which will open in 2011. Best known for hit singles such as “One Week,” “The Old Apartment,” “Pinch Me”, “If I Had $1,000,000”, and “Brian Wilson”, and most recently for writing and performing the theme song for the hit TV series, “The Big Bang Theory” and “You Run Away”, from their latest album, “All in Good Time”. Barenaked Ladies have had 6 top ten albums in Canada, and have sold over 10 million albums in the United States as well as 12.4 million albums in Canada. The band’s commercial success has been accompanied by industry accolades including 8 Juno Awards, 2 Billboard Awards, a World Music Award, 4 Much Music Awards, 17 Juno Nominations, 2 Grammy Nominations and an MTV Video Music Award nomination. The Barenaked Ladies’ show will be the latest chapter in the college’s long history of hosting live outdoor music events featuring top Canadian acts. Local recording artist Jody Raffoul will be the opening act for this memorable concert event. This concert is sponsored in part by the St. Clair College Alumni Association. General Admission tickets are $35 VIP tickets (total of 1000) (in the sections closest to the stage) are $45. This is the version that left New Yorkers and tourists alike gasping in wonder and merriment every year, for ten years, on the stage at Madison Square Garden. The Nutcracker – A Canadian Tradition Run Time Two hours with one intermission The Nutcracker is Ballet Jorgen Canada's newest full-length ballet, and a true Canadian tradition. Created by acclaimed choreographer Bengt Jorgen to Pyotr I/yich Tchaikovsky's well-loved score, this delightful version of the timeless classic is born from a collaboration with Kleinburg's worldrenowned McMichael Canadian Art Collection. With well over 100 costumes in richly coloured fabrics, the Group of Seven Nutcracker features backdrops from Canada's 20th Century landscape artists: Franklin Carmichael's Church and Houses at Bisset (1931), Tom Thomson's Snow in the Woods (1916) and L.L. FitzGerald's Trees and Wildflowers(1922). Shoufou Alwawa Wayn Just when we thought that Im Hussein, Im Elias and their families were finally settled into the American way of life and had put all of their troubles behind them, the global economy takes a nosedive. What to do? If you've been following their comical cultural adjustments to American life, you can anticipate some hilarious situations in “Shoufou Alwawa Wayn” when they face foreclosure and a host of related money problems. “Shoufou Alwawa Wayn" by AJYAL Theatrical Group, will be performed in 2010-2011 in many cities in USA, Canada and Australia. AJYAL Theatrical Group, the first Arab-American theatre group in North America, has been in existence since 1988, staging many comedy productions over the years. Most of AJYAL Theatrical Group' shows poke fun at the everyday lives of Arab-Americans who are desperately trying to blend into the mainstream of American culture. The plays serve as a forum to help people laugh at their mistakes and mishaps but also to come to terms with social issues facing Arab-Americans.
