It is an honour for us to have a priviledge to thank you for accepting our invitation to participate at the 5th Congress of Internal Medicine for the South – Eastern Europe, which will be held from the 6th to the 9th of March, 2009 in Belgrade, Hotel Continental. Our opinion is that the organisation of such meetings has a great signifi cance from the following reasons: 1. Good knowledge of all the fi elds of internal medicine gives a doctor broader knowledge and scope on medicine 2. A Congress of Internal Medicine gives much wider experience than a specialised congress held today, 3. The fact that in a great number of towns and places, the entire specialist activities are comprised and done by an internal medicine specialist should not be forgotten The Cardiology Society of Serbia, The Association of Serbian Gastroenterologysts, Rheumatology Association of Serbia, The Association of Serbian Pulmologysts and Serbian Society for Hypertension will take part in the organization.The Congress will be organized with the approval of EFIM and ISIM. We have received 245 papers for this Congress, which are divided into oral and poster presentations. Moreover, 26 sessions of plenary lectures, which will cover the entire internal medicine, will be given by the most eminent leacturers from Serbia and Europe. We are sure that you will enjoy not only scientifi c sessions, but also socialising and relxation activities which have been carefully prepared for you by the Smart agency. We hope that this Congress will create an opportunity for all the participants to meet again, get to know themselves better and make new contacts for the future cooperation.
