HAVERIGG PRIMARY SCHOOL Atkinson Street Haverigg Cumbria LA18 4HA Tel: 01229 772502 e-mail: [email protected] www.haverigg.cumbria.sch.uk Headteacher: Mrs M Narongchai 13th March 2020 Dear Parents Following on from the Prime Minister’s latest briefing on the Covid-19 pandemic – 12th March 2020 - we need to now provide all of our parents and families with up to date guidance and important information that needs to be consistently and rigorously followed by us all for the benefit of the entire community. The most important and critical change, now that we have moved into the delay phase, is as follows: Anyone who now presents with a new persistent cough and/or a fever must now stay at home for 7 days. We all have the responsibility to do this and it is imperative that everyone makes prompt decisions and takes the correct action without hesitation. At home this will mean you deciding if your child is displaying symptoms and keeping them off school for the full 7 days. At school, if a child is displaying symptoms we will contact parents to collect them immediately; they will then need to be off school for the full 7 days. At all times we are following advice and guidance from Public Health England. This is an unprecedented situation and it is essential that we stick to the facts and not be influenced by headlines and social media. To be clear, school closures are not part of the current plan, it is business as usual. Should this advice change parents will be informed by school. We have and continue to make clear contingency plans and we will continue to keep you updated on the situation from school’s perspective. As the Prime Minister said, this will not be easy, but we all need to pull together and, with great determination, do our bit for as long as it takes.
