Edgar Rice Burroughs : Pellucidar before purchasing it in order to gage whether or not it would be worth my time, and all praised Pellucidar:

"Not a step did we take in advance but the grim reaper strode silently in our tracks...By Don Kidwell...It is one of the peculiarities of life within Pellucidar that man is more often the hunted than the hunter." Classic science fiction from a master that I'm finding to be practically timeless making it a fine pick up and I do recommend!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. very enjoyable!By StarrLyonIf you know Burroughs' work, you know what to expect. If not, I'm not sure how to describe it!Not as good as the first book in the series, though.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. ERB ClassicBy NavyManSitting down with one of these "old " ERB books is like spending an afternoon with an old friend. This is one of the books that I read as a pre- teen, I am now in my seventies. I enjoyed them then, and they are still just as enjoyable, if you keep in mind the time and world in which they were written. There is a quality in the writing that might escape some readers. ERB, through his characters, displays a self deprecating sense of self assurrance. His characters often say things like," I was not" the best of this or that, but I put every ounce of skill or training or whatever it took to meet the situation at hand to accomplish a task. His characters establish friendships and are loyal to friends and family to the point of self denial and loss of self satisfaction, qualities which might not be understood these days.I also like the book just for it's sense of escape and adventure.

This anthology is a thorough introduction to classic literature for those who have not yet experienced these literary masterworks. For those who have known and loved these works in the past, this is an invitation to reunite with old friends in a fresh new format. From Shakespeare s finesse to Oscar Wilde s wit, this unique collection brings together works as diverse and influential as The Pilgrim s Progress and Othello. As an anthology that invites readers to immerse themselves in the masterpieces of the literary giants, it is must-have addition to any library.
