PITCHING STAFF STEPPING UP BULLDOGS HIT PROGRAM-RECORD 9 HOME RUNS AT LIU Bryant’s pitching staff enjoyed a resurgence last season, posting the nation’s 22nd-best Bryant set a program record with nine home runs in a 21-8 win over LIU Brooklyn on May ERA at 3.22. The Bulldogs ranked 34th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.19) and 72nd in 8, 2016. The Bulldogs hit a home run in each of the first six innings and received home strikeouts per nine (7.8). He threw three complete games, posted 44 strikeouts, Bryant will have to deal with some very heavy losses on offense this season. DOUBLEHEADERS GALORE The Bulldogs played 11 twinbills last season. Bryant went 19-3 in those 22 games and all three losses came in the first game of the doubleheader.

BACK-TO-BACK LOSSES STREAK SNAPPED Bryant was the only team in the country to not lose back-to-back games up until the final two games of last season. Bryant outscored its opponents by a combined 78-31 posted three shutouts in the game following a loss.

ROAD WARRIORS Bryant finished the 2016 regular season with the most road wins in the country (24). It is the second time in three years the Bulldogs have led the country in road wins. They won 26 road games in 2014. In total, Bryant went 32-9 away from Smithfield last season.

5 BELOW Bryant has found success when limiting opponents to five runs or less over the last four years. The Bulldogs are 145-30-1 in that span. On the other hand, the Black and Gold are just 16-40 when they allow opponents to score six runs or more over that span.

LEADING AFTER SIX Bryant has been very good when leading after six innings over the last four seasons. The Bulldogs are a combined 139-9 (.939) since 2013 and 190-14 (.931) under head coach Steve Owens.

HOMER HAPPY Bryant has posted a 74-16 record over the last four years when they hit at least one home run in a game. They are 34-1 when they hit two or more in a game. The only loss came in the final game of the 2016 season against William & Mary.
