2009/2010 Season Statistics Tanunda Cricket Club Season 2009/2010 TANUNDA CRICKET CLUB INC. 2009/2010 Season Statistics A GRADE PREMIERS 39/40 – 46/47 – 47/48 – 49/50 – 50/51 – 51/52 – 78/79 – 83/84 – 92/93 – 93/94 – 94/95 – 02/03 – 03/04 Tanunda Cricket Club Season 2009/2010 President’s Report The Tanunda Cricket Club once again has had a very good season. We fielded five senior teams and four junior teams. The A1’s, A3’s and both the A4’s played in the final series and the A2’s only missed out by a mere 1.3 points. Congratulations to Matt Spackman and the A4 Blacks on an excellent season and winning the A5 premiership. Unfortunately the A3’s didn’t get a chance to bat in their Grand Final, where rain was the winner and Gilbert Valley was awarded the flag. The U16’s finished the season on top of the ladder in the minor round but lost their Grand Final, well done on your season Lads and a big thank you to many of you who played in the seniors. Thank you to my hard working committee; Peter Goers, Sam Cox, Pete Mernagh, Melissa Roestenburg, Boh Wall, Paul Healy, Luke Samain, Chris Murphy, Brad Marshall, Josh Wells, Matt Spackman and George Akkerman. Your work behind the scenes often goes unnoticed but I know that a club that performs well off the field will reap the benefits on the field. Thank you to Pete Goers and Kym Vanstone for organizing our meals after training and Pete Mernagh for his bar duties and keeping the pavilion tidy, your work is surely appreciated. Thank you also to Shane Kinlock for running the net trainings each week. Over the past few years Mel has been digging through old score books, end of year stats books, association records, library files and has compiled the past history of the club. As you are aware the Tanunda Cricket Club has ‘Life members’; Norm Gurr, Ray Giersch, Robert Homburg, Kevin Bartsch, Phil Hermann, Michael Schmidt, Peter Goers and Ron Bailey. These people have served the club both on and off the field for many years and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our club running. In addition to ‘Life member’, status the committee decided that there was a need to recognize people who had played senior cricket for our club over a long period of time. It was devised that we start a separate award, ‘Player life membership’, for people who have played 150 senior games for our club. We are confident that we have recognized every player who has achieved this milestone after 1960, as you can appreciate pre 1960 records are very hard to trace. A huge thank you to Melissa and Pete for all their efforts in compiling this information. Well done to Bradley Marshall and the junior committee for another very successful year fielding U16’s, U14’s and two U12 sides. Thank you to the junior coaches Brad Marshall, Matthew Radzevicius, Neil Burton and Craig Fielke; and all the parent helpers every week. The numbers at junior level indicate the strength of our club for future years. Our major sponsor this season was the Clubhouse; their support together with BG Building Group, Rogash Windows, Turkey Flat and Kaesler Wines makes valuable contribution to the running of our club. A big thank you also to all our 100 and 250 club sponsors. Your pre game thoughts are well received and I know you are idolized by many of our junior players. Boh was awarded captain of the SA Outbacks side, played in the Barossa and Light Association Team and the Mid North side when he could. He also made the Australian country side as wicket keeper / batsman . We are very lucky to have him as part of our club and hopefully soon he’ll get that illusive senior premiership at Tanunda. Our turf wicket is receiving high regards from everyone who plays on it. Thank you to Darren Gladigau for your continued efforts as curator. Thank you also to Strength Mechanical for maintaining our equipment during the year and Ian Frick for his helping hand with fertilizing and spraying. Thank you to each and every player who played for Tanunda this season. Well done to all the trophy winners especially those who won association awards. It is an honor to be a part of this club, let alone be president of it. To field a side in every grade in seniors and juniors is a great achievement and something that will continue into the future. We have a good blend of experience and youth and the morale at our club is unmatched in this association. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our great club in any way this season. A5 Premiers for 2009/2010 enough said. Well done to the A4 blacks on bringing home our only shield this season. Even though it would have been nice to win the A4’s, any grand final is worth winning and you blokes can certainly be proud of what you achieved this season. Bloody rain. Why couldn’t it have waited another 24 hours? Bad luck but well done to Kym and the A3’s ‘Peoples Side’ for making another Grand Final. Who knows what could have been if you played on the Sunday but you definitely ‘had a crack’ on the Saturday and did well to keep Gilbert Valley’s A2 side to 210. It is pleasing to see so much youth in our A3 team, no offence Kym and Jon, and I hope some of these young stars can progress into the 1’s and 2’s in the coming seasons. It is never nice when your season is decided by a single wicket or handful of runs. For the A1’s and A4 whites this was the case in both of their semi finals this season. Had the A1’s made 3 more runs and the whites taken 1 more wicket we would have had 4 teams playing on grand final weekend. It wasn’t to be but I hope all players involved in those 2 losses are keen to play next season and give their all to go 1, hopefully 2 steps further. There are so many if’s and but’s at the end of any cricket match and trust me I have been through every one possible for the A1 semi final loss. The fact is we finished 4th, finished higher than 4 other strong clubs and if keep a similar group together are very close to winning a Grand Final. Unfortunately the A2’s didn’t see any finals action this season for the first time in quite a while. It came down to the last minor round game and a heart breaking 4 run loss to Sandy Creek meant they finished 5th. However all associated with the 2’s this season can be proud of their efforts and I’m sure if it wasn’t for a couple of unexpected losses early in the season finals cricket would have been played. I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching the Tanunda Cricket Club over the last 4 seasons. I have got great reward in seeing blokes develop their cricketing ability and above all enjoy playing cricket for our cricket club. I believe the time is right to hand over the baton to someone else, therefore I will not be coaching in season 2010 / 2011. Thank you to Darren Graetz and the committee for giving me the opportunity and I hope the club continues to be strong on and off the field in the future. Enjoy, don’t drink too many frothies over winter and I will catch you all when season 2010/11 comes around. Boh Wall.     Sussex Sharks v. Australia Tourist Match The 1st Central County Ground, Hove. Friday 8th June 2018. Sussex put up a brave fight against the new-look Aussies - but couldn't prevent the tourists claiming the spoils to kick off their visit to England with victory on a wonderful day of cricket at Hove. But the Sharks lost too many wickets at key times - including two fairly needless run-outs - to give up their hopes of handing the tourists a losing start to their visit. It was Australia's first game on a tour that will see them play five ODIs and one T20 against England in a series starting next Wednesday. Sussex had sold every one of their 6,000 seats for the game, while it was also a chance for Jason Gillespie's team to put behind them the disappointment of failing to qualify for the knockout stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup. All eyes were on the Australians, who have not been seen too much in public since the ball- tampering scandal that rocked the cricket world. The saga has robbed the team of captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner - both banned for a year - and opener Cameron Bancroft, suspended for nine months. It's also seen Darren Lehmann depart as coach to be replaced by Justin Langer, and apart from this being his first match at the helm, it was also a first chance for English cricket fans to see how the Australians were evolving ahead of next year's World Cup and home Ashes series.

This season we fielded five senior teams easily every week; a feat I personally thought would be a lot harder. The most pleasing thing being, they all made the finals. Unfortunately the A2’s and A4’s lost their semi finals, but to get three out of five senior teams into the grand final was an excellent year, it is very pleasing to see the numbers of players and spectators around the club. The morale at our club is unmatched in this association as the Tanunda Cricket Club is looked upon as the benchmark in cricket clubs. Thank you to my hard working committee; Peter Goers, Sam Cox, Elli Beer, Mellissa Roestenburg, Boh Wall, Paul Healy, Luke Samain, Chris Murphy, and George Akkermann.     WOODVILLE DISTRICT CRICKET CLUB 1937 – 2012 A RECORD TO COMMEMORATE THE SEVENTY–FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLUB INTRODUCTION In September, 2012 the Woodville District Cricket Club celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary. This publication includes references to the early Woodville Cricket Club first formed in 1874, and a history relating to the establishment of the Club in 1937 and its progress to admission to the South Australian Cricket Association District Cricket Competition. I have drawn on two publications that I have previously produced: - June, 1976 titled “ History of the Woodville District Cricket Club Inc. 1937-1976 “ prepared in conjunction with the centenary celebrations of the City of Woodville (1), and - September, 2009 - “Woodville District Cricket Club- Performances, Statistics and Other Club Records: 1937/1938 - 2008/2009” (2). The 75th anniversary has provided the opportunity to consolidate Club records. As a consequence this publication includes a comprehensive record of office holders, the significant achievements and performances of players along with other statistical details of Club performances. Parts II-VI includes these records and represents a collection established, added to, and maintained since 1973. The records and statistics do track the path of history. In some instances the date of creating the particular record is shown. What is produced in relation to player performances and State representation do not include the separate State and A Grade One Day and Twenty20 competitions. The contribution that many individuals have made to the establishment and performance of the Club, and its enduring existence over its 75 year history can, to some extent, be measured by what is recorded in the various parts of this publication.

    Sussex CCC vs Glamorgan Specsavers County Championship – Division Two The 1st Central County Ground, Hove Monday 27th – Thursday 30th May 2019 Day One Opener Phil Salt scored his second successive century to put Sussex in a good position on day one of their Specsavers County Championship match against Glamorgan at The 1st Central County Ground. Having made 122 against Northamptonshire last week, Welsh-born Salt reached the fourth hundred of his career in the final over of the day when he collected his 12th boundary courtesy of a mis-field by Charlie Hemphrey at mid-off. But two balls later Salt was caught behind cutting at Dan Douthwaite for 103, made off 105 balls with 12 fours and three sixes. Sussex were 208 for 5 at stumps, a lead of 22. Sussex have struggled to get good starts this season but Salt, who was called into England’s T20 squad earlier this month, gave the innings a solid platform by putting on 85 with Luke Wells in 15 overs. Wells (30) failed to control his hook shot when Douthwaite dug one in short then Glamorgan took three wickets in ten balls to reduce Sussex to 126 for 4. Australian leg-spinner Marnus Labuschagne picked up Harry Finch (31) and Stiaan van Zyl (0) with his first two deliveries as Finch missed a long hop and van Zyl was beaten by a googly. Timm van der Gugten then returned to the attack to bowl Laurie Evans (4) via an inside edge. But Sussex skipper Ben Brown, who also made a century last week, and Salt took Sussex into the lead with a stand of 82 in 17 overs.

    Lancashire CCC vs Sussex CCC Specsavers County Championship, Division Two Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester Saturday 13th – Monday 15th July 2019 Day One Lancashire ended day one of their Division Two match against Sussex in a strong position after bowling their visitors out for 127 and then making 149 for one in reply. Matthew Parkinson collected a career-best six for 23 from 15.2 overs and Glenn Maxwell picked up four for 41 on the weekend when he hoped to be playing in a World Cup final. Alex Davies then made 72 before becoming the only Lancashire wicket to fall and Keaton Jennings was unbeaten on 53 at the close, by which time Lancashire were already well on the way to building a winning position. But this total dominance was in sharp contrast to the first 80 minutes of play, in which Phil Salt and Varun Chopra had put on 77 runs in 19 overs before Sussex lost five wickets for 11 runs in a dramatic collapse on a used pitch. Any discomfort Salt and Chopra encountered against Lancashire’s seamers had to be balanced against some fluent strokeplay and Sussex had seemed poised to make very good use of winning the toss when Salt, on 40, swept Maxwell to Josh Bohannon at deep square leg. Chopra was lbw to leg-spinner Parkinson for 32 and one of Sussex’s struggles begun. Maxwell then took a good caught and bowled off Luke Wells, who made five, the same score Stiaan van Zyl had managed when he edged Parkinson to Rob Jones at first slip.
