Lemmon) 3.6 miles, out and back, 500 ft. elevation change, easy We’ll hike for about 1.8 miles, snack, and then return the same way. The trip out is mostly down- hill and mostly uphill on our return. This is a forested trail and has a tiny creek with some nice little waterfalls.

Sunday, August 24 - Aravipa Canyon, East (near Klondyke) approx. 4 miles out and back, minimal elevation change, moderate Hiking in Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness is a wet hike. The perennial waters of Aravaipa Creek have carved a scenic canyon through the at the north end of the . Saguaro cactus dot the canyon slopes, and a mixed-broadleaf riparian forest lines the canyon creek.

September 12-14 - Roper Lake Trip (rent cabins) Ash Creek (Pinaleno Mts. near Mt. Graham) 4.8 miles out and back, 1,380 ft. elevation change, moderate Trailhead over 9,000 ft. elevation on AZ 366, 28 miles from US 191. Webb Peak (Pinaleno Mts. Near Mt. Graham) 2.7 mile loop, 890 ft. eleva- tion gain, easy Trailhead over 9,000 feet.

Sunday September 28 - Atascosa Lookout: FS Trail 100 (near Nogales) 4.5 miles, 1,518 ft. elevation change, moderate - difficult This hike takes you to one of the summits of the Atscosa Mountains. The relatively steep rocky trail takes you directly to an abandoned lookout tow- er. The trail starts out in thickets of agave and ends up in a forest of pinon and junipers. On a clear day the views from the summit are spectacular.

Sunday, October 5 - Ventana Canyon to Window Rock 12.8 miles, 4,310 ft. elevation gain, difficult The steep trail up Ventana Canyon ends at the Window; a 15 by 25 foot arch at the top of one of the peaks in the . The trail follows the length of the canyon between sheer cliffs with a continually expanding panoramic view of the Tucson valley below. Ventana Canyon to Maiden Pools 4.8 miles, 1,290 ft. elevation gain, moderate Maiden Pools are stream pools that feed a small waterfall up Ventana Canyon. It makes a nice place for lunch. The view of the city as well as Santa Rita’s on the horizon is stunning.

Sunday, November 2 - Wild Burro Trail (Dove Mountain) 7.1 miles, 1,025 ft. elevation change, moderate Located next to the Ritz-Car- lton, Dove Mountain Resort, this trail weaves in and out of a dry riverbed before getting slightly more rugged in the Tortolita Mountains.
