Summary of Activities 2019 Welcome Word ALL RUNNERS ARE BEAUTIFUL SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES 2019 WELCOME WORD This is an amazing time to be in the Czech Republic. A historic time. Because 30 years ago, the Czechs took part in what the world has come to know as the Velvet Revolution. And we are celebrating that quiet but relentless form of resistence. And the embracing of democracy. It so happens that the Prague International Marathon CONTENT was started right around the same time. And what Vaclav Havel and others did for a nation, we are trying 2–3 Introduction to do for the sport of running. We are trying to liberate 4–13 Where we stand now it. To open the doors to mass participation. 14–15 What we want to reach To democratize it. 16–31 RunCzech projects 32–35 Where you can meet us We march under a banner that reads, ALL RUNNERS ARE BEAUTIFUL. Our way of saying to the world that, 36–42 Thanks to our partners no matter your nationality, your color, your beliefs or your ability, you are welcome here. You are a part of something that transcends borders and ideology. That’s why we stage races that anyone can take part in, from family fun runs to an ultra-marathon. Races through city streets or winding down beautiful country trails. If you run to support a good cause, chances are we do, too. Social. Environmental. Educational. For more than 25 years, our mission was to make the Czech Republic a happier, healthier place. And we have. Now, in some of the most turbulent times the planet has seen since our Velvet Revolution, we’d like to see if the sport of running can bring the people of the world a little closer together. We think it can. And we hope you do, too. Gratefully and sincerely, Carlo Capalbo President of the RunCzech Organizing Committee World Athletics / IAAF Road Running Commission Chairman 2 ALL RUNNERS ARE BEAUTIFUL We aim to use our resources, our experience and our celebrity to preach the value of running. To vastly expand the number of people who consider themselves runners. To cultivate a new class of elite athletes. And to become more active in preserving a healthy environment, making the world more conducive to running for everyone. Furthermore, we aim to make running events more than just opportunities to test your strength and your stamina. We are viewing them—and promoting them—as places to demonstrate that people of different backgrounds, nationalities, color and ability can come together in peace. To put aside our differences, and to celebrate together. Prague International Marathon, spol. s r.o. Tempo Team Prague s.r.o. Juniorský maratonský klub, z.s. SuperHalfs s. r. o. PRESS RELEASE 5 June 2017 Now it’s official - Four world records in one race RunCzech Racing’s Joyciline Jepkosgei has been confirmed by the IAAF, the international governing body of athletics, as the official world record holder for 10k, 15k, 20k and the half-marathon, with the times she achieved on April 1 in the Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon 2017 From international debutante to world record holder in 10 months Just days ago, the IAAF ratified Joyciline Jepkosgei’s feat of breaking four world records in one race. Which means that it has only taken a little over 10 months for the 23 year old to grow from an unknown Kenyan runner into the first woman to break the 65 minute barrier for the half marathon. Not only talented, but also confident, with a professional attitude, Jepkosgei is the perfect example of what the RunCzech Racing Team is striving to become at all levels. In early 2016, Joyciline Jepkosgei was showing sufficient promise both in training and racing back home in Kenya, to attract the attention of Ikaika Sports‘ talent scouts. She was invited to become a part of RunCzech Racing and the adidas Marathon Athlete Development Program. “I was a very young athlete who didn’t even know how to run, with no manager and no training facilities,“ says Jepkosgei. “But RunCzech Racing Team and my management (Ikaika Sports) have supported me a lot, to help me get to where I am now. To set four world records is not down to me alone, but the result of teamwork”.
