THIMUN 2018 Participants Information

General Rules of Conduct

It is assumed by virtue of the fact that participants are here for a serious programme that they are mature enough to respect others and to provide a framework within which all MUN participants can operate, with each action in good taste and appropriate to the primary purpose of their being here. Failure to follow these simple guidelines may result in participants being sent home at their own expense and schools not being invited to future sessions.

Alcoholic Beverages & Narcotic Drugs Alcoholic Beverages may not be consumed at any time during the conference. The legal age for alcohol consumption in the Netherlands has been set at 18. The use of any form of narcotic drug is expressly prohibited.

Students Staying in Hotels, Hostels and Community Housing Students staying in Hotels and Hostels are reminded that they have a great deal of responsibility towards their hosts as well as towards their fellow residents. Special financial arrangements have been made for your benefit. Your cooperation is needed to ensure the on- going success of this programme. Students in Community Housing should note that THIMUN goes to a great deal of trouble to find host families willing to offer hospitality to MUN- delegates. The host families receive no payment for this service. A small thank you present and/or a letter of thanks after you return home is always appreciated.

Curfew Since MUN sessions are very long and tiring and also out of consideration for housing families and fellow hotel guests, a curfew of 23:00 is recommended from Sunday to Friday.

Dress Code As a serious simulation, THIMUN expects personal appearance to be appropriate for a professional setting. Participants should not wear clothing, jewellery, or accessories which are distracting, inappropriate, or which may call attention to themselves – either individually or as a group. Inappropriate dress includes, but is not limited to: - Team accessories such as scarves, hats, non-THIMUN badges/buttons/pins - Sports shoes & denim clothes - National costume or military attire Boys should be dressed in a formal suit, shirt, tie, or similar alternative i.e. blazer or jacket with formal trousers. Girls should be dressed equally formally in suits, smart separates (whether trousers or skirts) or dresses. Low necklines and/or short skirts are not considered appropriate. The dress code also applies to MUN-Directors. THIMUN reserves the right not to allow inappropriately dressed participants into the World Forum/the forums.
