The Exmoor Society 23rd Society Walk – Murder and Mystery at Wheal Eliza (re Simonsbath Frestival). On this short walk along the River Barle, hear the history of the Knights’ family, mining in this part of Exmoor Calendar of Society & Group Events and the tragic murder and mystery at Wheal Eliza. Very wet underfoot, wear suitable footwear; weather conditions Caratacus Stone. Then gently down to Knaplock and the River Barle. We then follow the river to may force change to the route. A walk within the South West Water Headwaters of the dramatic cliffs at Hurlstone Point, continuing around the shingle ridge and across the saltmarsh. Exe project catchment area to look at the work farmers are doing on Exmoor to protect water The walk will provide opportunities for discovering coastal and marine wildlife and the historic quality in the River Exe.
