The artwork was praised with the reviewer stating that Bryan Hitch's "artwork has definitely been one of the main elements that will make this series memorable. Of course, this is an Ultimates title, and not an FF one; Reed even isn't the main villain that would be the Ultimates version of Kang, which as with many of the best Ultimates characters is depicted with a twist. No trivia or quizzes yet. Bidding has ended on this item. This turned out to be better than I thought it would. New Ultimates mini-series, The Ultimates return once more, now as part of the "Ultimate Comics" line. Where are they now? Because sometimes everything in the universe briefly aligns to show you how things should be — the total commitment to change that follows means all the things you think it might: honesty, amputation, reinvention and renaissance. Another cool thing they did was make the chest lights on Reed's Herbietron robots light up in such a way that they formed an Ultron face in the dark. Also, last but not least, Tony going a bit crazy cause of the tumor is pretty interesting. Lovely art and not a confusing story even though it is obviously somewhere in the middle of some other version of the Ultimates than the graphic novels I've read previously. WORLDS WILL LIVE, WORLDS WILL DIE: MYTH, METATEXT, CONTINUITY AND CATACLYSM IN DC COMICS’ CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS Adam C. Murdough A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS August 2006 Committee: Angela Nelson, Advisor Marilyn Motz Jeremy Wallach ii ABSTRACT Angela Nelson, Advisor In 1985-86, DC Comics launched an extensive campaign to revamp and revise its most important superhero characters for a new era. In many cases, this involved streamlining, retouching, or completely overhauling the characters’ fictional back-stories, while similarly renovating the shared fictional context in which their adventures take place, “the DC Universe.” To accomplish this act of revisionist history, DC resorted to a text-based performative gesture, Crisis on Infinite Earths. This thesis analyzes the impact of this singular text and the phenomena it inspired on the comic-book industry and the DC Comics fan community. The first chapter explains the nature and importance of the convention of “continuity” (i.e., intertextual diegetic storytelling, unfolding progressively over time) in superhero comics, identifying superhero fans’ attachment to continuity as a source of reading pleasure and cultural expressivity as the key factor informing the creation of the Crisis on Infinite Earths text. The second chapter consists of an eschatological reading of the text itself, in which it is argued that Crisis on Infinite Earths combines self-reflexive metafiction with the ideologically inflected symbolic language of apocalypse myth to provide DC Comics fans with a textual "rite of transition," to win their acceptance for DC’s mid-1980s project of self- rehistoricization and renewal.

‘Th ank God for great journalism. Th is book is a much needed, ex- haustively researched and eff ortlessly well written recent history of Ethiopia. A book that strips away the cant and rumour, the pros and antis and thoroughly explains the people, politics and economics of that most beautiful nation. A superb and vital piece of work by some- one who clearly loves the country of which he writes.’ Bob Geldof ‘Th e great Ethiopian famine changed everything and nothing. It fun- damentally altered the rich world’s sense of its responsibility to the hungry and the poor, but didn’t solve anything. A quarter of a century on, we’re still arguing about the roots of the problem, let alone the so- lution, and—though there has been progress—Ethiopia’s food inse- curity gets worse, not better. Peter Gill was one of the most thorough and eff ective television journalists of his generation. He was there in 1984 and his work at the time added up to the most sensible, balanced and comprehensive explanation of what had happened. Twenty-fi ve years later, he’s gone back to test decades of aspiration against the re- alities on the ground. It’s a book that bridges journalism and history, judicious analysis with a strong, and often gripping, narrative. Always readable, but never glib, this is a must for all those who think there is a simple answer to the famine, still waiting in the wings. ’ Michael Buerk ‘No outsider understands Ethiopia better than Peter Gill. He com- bines compassion with a clinical commitment to the truth.

Jonesy is a Cupid-like character who has the ability to make people fall in love with other peopleBy The Hermit LibrarianJonesy caught my eye because the color and the style reminded me so much of the television show Steven Universe. While as far as I know neither creator has nothing to do with the show, this book has its own humor and shine.Jonesy is a Cupid-like character who has the ability to make people fall in love with other people, things, ideas, etc. Some of these matches are much more successful than others. Many have consequences that force Jonesy to confront her view on the subject and figure out how to make things better or whether to meddle again when she has the potential to make things even worse. There's no indication yet where her powers come from, whether they're passed down from a family member or spontaneously bestowed upon her, but she's certainly making use of them since discovering them accidentally when shipping two characters on t.v.The weird thing about Jonesy is, even though she's described in the summary of the book as being a fan of anime and a devotee of grrrl bands and 1D, I didn't really get that from her in this book.
