PURPOSE Al~D PROG~1

New Yorkers for Nixon is made up of people living and/or working

in New York who are dedicated to the cause of electing Richard M. Nixon

President of the United States of America in 1960. Enthusiastic support

of that cause is the qualification for membership, with members being

drawn from the ranks of Republicans, Democrats and Independents. In

working for its cause, New Yorkers for Nixon has no intention of

soliciting delegates from New York State to the 1960 Republican Convention,

nor does it propose to embarass members of the New York State Republican

Organization by asking them to state a preference for one candidate.

Rather, it is the purpose of New Yorkers for Nixon to provide a platform

from which all New Yorkers can be heard who believe that Dick Nixon is the

ideal choice for President in 1960.

The belief of New Yorkers for Nixon that America needs Richard

Nixon in 1960 is based on his qualities of ability, integrity and courage,

plus his unique experience and training for the Presidency. These qualities

have already served America well in every field of gover~~ental activity

as a legislator in both houses of Congress, as Vice President and Alter

nate Presiding Officer of the Security Council and the President's Cabinet,

and as chief proponent and defender of America's way of life in Africa,

South America, Europe and Asia. It Ls the purpose of New Yorkers for

Nixon to tell as many Americans as possible why these qualities and

experience make Dick Nixon their choice for President.

The program of activities of New Yorkers for Nixon will be

both state and nation-wide. A "Tell-Ten" program, nation-wide

mailings, profession-to-profession contacts, rallies, Letters to the

Editor teams and a Speakers Bureau will all help to make Dick Nixon

President in 1960. New Yorkers for Nixon welcomes to its membership

every enthusiastic supporter of Richard M. Nixon. NEW YORKERs FOR NIXON Membership List

" NEW YORKERS FOR NIXON 555 MADISON AVE. N~l YORK, NEW YORK

Chairman Executive Secretary Peter M. Flanigan Jean McKee (bus.) HAnover 2-2828 RE 7-1323 (home) Normandy 1-7798 Greenwich, Conn. hi,<4 k.Jriiit~. ~p ~ 47

FOR RELEASE AFTER 7 P.M., EST, ~UNDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1959

A non-partisan group of New Yorkers supporting Vice President Richard M. Nixon will formally inaugurate a Nixon-for-President drive this week with the opening of its headquarters here in New York. Called IINew Yorkers for Nixon," the group will kick off its activity with a party beginning at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, at its head quarters, 555 Madison Avenue, according to its chairman, Peter M. Flanigan. Flanigan, a partner of Dillon, Read and Company, accounced a New Yorkers for Nixon Organizing Committee of 40 members, and indicated that additional names would be announced in the near future. Among those on the Committee are William E. Robinson, chairman of the Coca-Cola Company, and Barry T. Leithead, president of Cluett, Peabody and Company, both early supporters of President Eisenhower for the Presidency in 1952. "We believe Vice President Richard M. Nixon is the most experienced and best qualified man to lead the country," Flanigan said.

II vle extend a warm invitation to all Nixon boosters in this area to meet with us Thursday and to work for his election next November. "I want to state definitely that we have no intention of attempting to obtain delegates from the state of New York. I would - more - 2 go further and say that we have no intention of embarrassing anyone in the New York State Republican Organization by asking them to take sides. Here in the largest city in the country we are simply providing a plat form from which New Yorkers can express and mobilize their support for Dick Nixon on a regional and national basis." Flanigan announced that the headquarters would be open from today (Monday) to sign up Nixon boosters, although the formal opening is not scheduled for another three days. Flanigan also serves as Trustee of the American Museum of Natural History and Treasurer of New York University - Bellevue Medical Center. Executive Secretary of the new group is Miss Margaret Jean McKee. (A complete list of the present membership is attached.)
