JUNE 22: OAYP QUARTERLY BREAKFAST, Union Tea Cafe, Olean, 8 to 9 a.m. OAYP is hosting Crystal Abers, Director of Economic Development, Planning & Tourism for Cattaraugus County. During her talk, Abers will highlight new things going on around Cattaraugus County this summer and interesting places to visit. She’ll also be available for questions. NEXT CyberNews out THURSDAY, JULY 12**, 2018 ------June 21: Southern Tier Corporate Challenge 5K Run and 2 Mi Walk, Jamestown Community College, Olean, 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. This event pits business against business in this running challenge. The race is open to both corporate and community teams. The challenge concludes with Olean’s Largest Office Party following the race with food, drink, fun and awards. ---- JUNE 21: STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL, Olean General Hospital, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The 32nd annual Olean General Hospital Auxiliary Strawberry Festival will be held on the front lawn at OGH. The event will offer strawberry shortcake, sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, Texas hots, a baked potato bar, drinks, baked goods, craft items, raffles and entertainment. Enjoy a health fair, WPIG live remote, and partake in the blood drive. For more information, call 716-375-6119. ---- JUNE 21: MENU BOARD DO-IT-HERSELF WORKSHOP, Home Depot, Olean, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Ideal for dinner parties, family meal planning or as a message wall to keep your family organized, Store Associate will show you how to measure, mark, cut and assemble a craft paper menu board that you can mount in any or every room in your home. The Home Depot Workshops are designed to provide a mix of associate-led instruction, demonstration, and some hands-on learning. Materials can be purchased to make your own project. For general questions, please call the Olean store at 716-372-3725 (please do call Olean store to register). ---- JUNE 21: TRIP to the FALLS and GORGE with Pfeiffer Nature Center, departs 7:30 a.m., returns 5:30 p.m. Pfeiffer Nature Center is sponsoring a field trip to Niagara Falls and the Niagara Gorge to examine this unique area with nature guide, Tim Baird. This field trip will involve a full day excursion via carpooling to lesser-known areas for viewing the falls and gorge. Along the way, they will plan on stops that will include Whirlpool State Park and Artpark in Lewiston, NY. Walking will be fairly easy, but be sure to wear proper footwear such as sneakers or day hikers. Please bring your own lunch. The Nature Center will provide coolers with ice and water if refrigeration is needed. The fee is $20 per person, which includes carpooling fees. All married couples should register for the event online in order to participate. All registrants need to meet the eligibility requirements set forth by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS in order to participate in the official title attempt. Couples must provide a photocopy of their marriage certificate as part of the requirement. July 7, 8: Annual FUN FLY & AIRSHOW sponsored by the Southern Tier Aero Radio Society, Cattaraugus County/Olean Airport, Ischua, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. See hundreds of radio controlled aircraft fly through the skies. The S.T.A.R.S. (Southern Tier Aero Radio Society) Flying Club is dedicated to promoting the hobby of building and flying radio controlled model aircraft. Also, enjoy food and refreshments, Family Make n’ Take Foam Airplane Booth, Foam Airplane Adult & Youth Flying Competition, FPV Quad Racing Demos and free vendor, crafter spaces. There is a $5 per car donation. NEW THIS YEAR: Camping space (no hook ups) available to the public for camper and tent spaces. A car show will be a part of this year's event with cars parked on the taxiway. Saturday night bon-fire out on the gravel lot with music and s’mores. Pancake breakfast available both mornings. Using the collections of the Quick Center as the backdrop for experiential learning, students will develop their creative and artistic talents during the three-day camp. Participants will be instructed in basic drafting and drawing techniques, practicing painting mix to construct a landscape work and tiles using acrylic pouring, recreate early photographic and collage techniques and create assemblage sculptures and clay pieces.
