1.25 MTPA Rohera-Watera Limestone Mines, District ,

SUMMARY

J K Lakshmi Cement Limited (JKLCL) is operating a cement plant near village Basantgarh, Tehsil , District Sirohi, Rajasthan. In order to meet the demand of limestone for the cement plant, JKLCL proposes to start the Rohera – Watera Limestone Mine located at Village – Rohera, Tehsil – Pindwara, District Sirohi, Rajasthan The Mining Lease area is 73.7421 hectares, bounded by Latitude 24036’24.22’’ to 24037’45.42” and Longitude 72056’20.27’’ to 72057’22.7’’. 55.5 ha land is barren land belonging to Government and 18.24 ha land is agriculture land owned by private individuals. Production of limestone will be 1.25 Million Tons Per Annum (MTPA). Handling of ROM limestone will be 1.3 MTPA.

No wildlife sanctuary or national park exists in the 10 km area around the proposed mine boundary. The 73.7421 ha land is free from all encumbrances of Forest, Grazing Land and Aravalli Hills. Nearest habitation is Rohera, about 1 km away from ML boundary. The nearest Highway is 7.6 km away - NH 14/NH 927A, between Pindwara & Abu Road. From highway the site is connected by a district road. Nearest big town and railway station is Swaropganj, about 7 km away from ML boundary on the Route. Nearest Airport is located at (Dabok) about 130 km from the ML area.

Government of Rajasthan issued LOI Letter of Intent No. P 3(76) Khan / Group-2 / 2012 dated 17.12.2014. (ML No. 07/2009). Mining lease is yet to be executed.

The limestone deposit is exposed right on surface with very little overburden of weathered limestone. The limestone contains CaO 41.58% to 47.13%, MgO 0.72% to 1.71% and SiO2 from 9.79% to 17.79%. The site is hilly terrain. In the Mining Lease area the highest elevation is 302 mRL and lowest elevation is 270 mRL. The rock is dipping 720 to 800. The net mineable reserve is 25.5 million tons. 3.6 million tons limestone will be extracted during the first 5 years. Stripping ratio is 1 : 0.022. Life of the mine is 20 years. There is no overburden but waste will be generated from inter-bands of phyllites & schist. Estimated waste will be 5% of ROM. This waste is proposed to be dumped in the SW corner of the lease area. Dump will be of 10 m height and spread over 0.88 ha area by the end of plan period.

The method of mining will be fully mechanised opencast method with the use of HEMM. It is proposed to mine with benches of 7 m height and width of benches about 20-30 m. Blast holes of 150 mm dia. are proposed to be drilled by using DTH wagon drill machine and blasting with ANFO with Booster charge. Loading of blasted material is proposed with 2.1 m3 bucket capacity excavator in dumpers of 40 tons capacity and transported to crusher for sizing.

The limestone mineralisation is proved up to 250 mRL and ultimate pit depth is planned up to this depth only. In general DTW varies from 10 to 20 m bgl in pre-monsoon and 5 to 10 m bgl in post-monsoon.

30 KL/day water will be required for the project. Rain water stored in mined out pit and existing depressions will be used for dust suppression and workshop. Drinking water will brought from outside the mine area.

Two pits are designed with 7.5 statutory barrier along lease boundary and 300 m safety zone around temple. The ultimate pit slope will be 450. By the end of life of mine 27.771 ha land will be pit, about 3.0 ha area will be covered by green belt, plantation will be also done over upper two mined out benches, covering an area of 4.87 ha. Remaining pit area of 22.901 ha will be used for rain water storage.

No human habitation exists inside the Mining Lease area. R&R Policy of Rajasthan Government shall be followed while acquiring the lease area. All guidelines of Rajasthan Government and Central Government shall be followed.

The project will commence as soon as JKLCL receives the Environmental Clearance from MOEF and Consent to Establish from Rajasthan SPCB. The project cost is Rs.170 crores. About 67 people will get direct employment in the project.
