December 6 Hawk Update

Hello Hawk Families, this is Kristie Spenner with our weekly update. The weather has certainly turned colder, which means hot cocoa and pj’s earlier in the day at the Spenner home! Hope you had a great weekend!

Updated District Bus Stop Protocol: Students in Kinder thru 3rd grade will need to have a parent or guardian at the bus stop to receive the student. Students will not be dropped off without an adult present to receive them. This adult could be whomever the parent or guardian has arranged with the school, and in some instances be an older (4th or 5th grade) sibling. Thank you for your help as we continue to improve our safety practices.

Also, if your student is a bus rider, remember you are now able to download the Here Comes the Bus app to your mobile device. This app will be a great way for you to keep up with your child’s bus's arrival times, and it shows a real-time location of your child's bus on a map. Please see the attached flyers from the district for more information. The flyer has our district's unique number that you'll need in order to sign up, and you will also need your student's Powerschool student number.

For everyone’s safety, please have your driver’s license with you if you are coming to sign out your student. ID’s are required for all student dismissals at all times. We appreciate your assistance with this as safety is a priority at Woodland Heights.

There are still openings available in our Prime Time after-school care program. Note that effective 1st, the fee to attend PrimeTime is increasing to $275 for Full Time students and $180.00 for Part Time students but note that Prime Time has not had a price increase in eleven years. News from our PTO:

Our Annual Fund campaign competition is under way and, as of Friday, Kindergarten is in the lead with 1st grade close behind! Remember, every donation, regardless of amount, will give a point to your child's grade level. Each class represented by your family will receive a participation point for your donation, so don't forget to list your child or children's teacher with your donation. Donate o nline or send in a check made out to WHE PTO with Annual Fund and your teacher's name written on the memo line. The winning grade level will be rewarded with class parties and the teachers will have recess covered by members of office staff!

Flyers went home last week about our Holiday Cheer program. Every year, the PTO collects monetary donations for Holiday Cheer, which are used to purchase gift cards for our enhancement and support staff (all staff members except homeroom teachers). Please consider donating so we can show these hardworking staff members our thanks this holiday season! Donate online or send in a check made out to WHE PTO with Holiday Cheer written on the memo line. The deadline to donate is Friday, December 18th.

Looking for another way to gift your teachers or other staff members? Check out the W HE Staff Favorites list to be sure to get them something they'll love!

If you missed our PTO meeting last week, catch up by reading our meeting minutes on the P TO website.

Thank you for your continued support! It is an honor to be partners in your child’s education. Have a wonderful evening and as always- GO HAWKS!
