2008-Present Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health, School of Public Health and Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amherst, Massachusetts

2007-2008 Pre-doctoral Cancer Epidemiology Fellow, Department of Epidemiology, Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Selected as a fellow for a newly awarded “Education Programs in Cancer Prevention” training grant from the National Cancer Institute to the Department of Epidemiology. Worked independently on research addressing the longitudinal effects of anthropometry on mammographic breast density and on the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in breast carcinogenesis. Acted as the study coordinator for a case-control study of hormonal determinants of mammographic breast density. Participated in weekly educational seminars with other pre-doctoral cancer epidemiology fellows.

2006-2008 Consultant, Division of Population Sciences, Comprehensive Cancer Center, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio Collaborated with Dr. Electra Paskett in statistical analysis and writing of scientific manuscripts related to cancer prevention and epidemiology. Katherine W. Reeves, Ph.D., M.P.H. Email: [email protected] RESEARCH EXPERIENCE (continued)

2005-2006 Graduate Student Researcher, Department of Epidemiology, Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Acted as the study coordinator for a case-control study of hormonal determinants of mammographic breast density. Prepared and submitted documents to obtain Institutional Review Board approval for a study to examine mammographic breast density among women participating in an ongoing randomized clinical trial. Recruited participants for the aforementioned mammographic breast density ancillary study.

2004-2005 Research Associate 2, Division of Population Sciences, Comprehensive Cancer Center, The Ohio State University , Columbus, Ohio Wrote grant applications to the National Cancer Institute and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Coordinated study team activities for a proposed multi-center study of cancer survivors from the Women’s Health Initiative. Conducted statistical analyses and wrote manuscripts.

2002-2003 Graduate Assistant, Division of Population Sciences, Comprehensive Cancer Center, The Ohio State University , Columbus, Ohio Participated in study coordination for a clinical trial involving dietary supplementation of lycopene and soy in relation to biochemical markers of breast cancer risk. Analyzed existing dataset to study perceptions of cost and insurance coverage as barriers to mammography screening in a rural population. Published research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

2000-2001 Undergraduate Assistant, Department of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut Researched YopP, the protein known to be responsible for the virulence of the Black Plague. Learned molecular biochemistry laboratory techniques including gel electrophoresis, protein purification, and subcloning. Presented research in papers and at multiple group meetings.

2001 Summer Intern , Department of Pharmacology , Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals , Ridgefield, Connecticut Assisted with metabonomic studies, which involved the collection and subsequent NMR analysis of urine to study in vivo metabolism, of both toxin response and hypertension onset in rats under the direction of Mr. Paul Harrison. Learned basic techniques for handling laboratory animals (i.e. restraint, drug administration, urine collection) as well as some surgical procedures (e.g. device implantation for telemetry recording of cardiovascular parameters).

2000 Summer Intern , Department of Pharmaceutics , Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals , Ridgefield, Connecticut Developed an effective method for using bicarbonate buffer systems in drug dissolution testing. Presented research at group and company-wide meetings and in a published manuscript in a peer-reviewed journal.
