Organisation Mission Australia- Creative Youth Initiative Operational hours Tues- Thurs 8:30am- 5pm (classes only Tues- Wed) Phone & web support 9356 8897 Service locations & venues 19 Denham Street, Surry Hills NSW Services offered TAFE Accredited Music and Art Program for 16- 25 year olds Artworks! – is a free 20 week program offered two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) 10am- 4:30pm. This course is in partnership with Ultimo TAFE so students receive a Statement of Attainment in Vocational and Community Engagement. Students have the opportunity to display their artworks at the annual CYI art exhibition as well as work on their own projects and further develop their skills in workshops.

Sounds of the Streets (SOTS) – is a free 20 week program offered two Program(s) name and days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) 10am-4:30pm. This course is in description partnership with Ultimo TAFE so students receive a Certificate II in Music on completion. Students will have the opportunity to learn some new skills in performance and music composition. They will also be able to perform at the annual CD launch as well as record their own songs for the SOTS album.

Both courses are offered over two semesters per year and all students will receive support during their study from the Student Support Coordinator. Client demographics 16- 25 years Other information There are no geographical restrictions for referrals.

The Shack can provide a service for any or all of the following non entrenched matters:  Health: mental health, sexual health, wellbeing, coping skills, alcohol and other drug use  Transitioning: school, employment, housing and homelessness  Safety: Domestic and family violence, substance use, risk taking behaviours, self harm, suicidal ideation Services offered  Relationships: family relationships, increasing safe and healthy relationships  Advocacy: school liaison, Juvenile Justice, court support, referrals to other specialised support services

Services offered:  Short term (3 to 12 months) early intervention case management support for young people (12-18) and their families  ‘Drop In’ advice and support services  Educational programs  Health and wellbeing programs  School holiday programs Case management Advice and support - 2 to 3 occasions of support Program(s) name and Goals and outcomes which can be met during 2 to 3 occasions of description support, such as a referral to a specialised service, accessing centre link, creating a resume. Young people (12-18) and families’ experiencing low to medium risk issues that can be addressed by providing appropriate targeted, short term supports early to prevent further escalation. The belief of the program is that if these issues and if left unattended, then these issues would likely escalate to the point where either: A more intensive service would be required or Risk of significant harm is identified Client demographics

The primary focus is to support young people and families early and provide appropriate, short term supports to address identified issues and prevent escalation of problems. The key commonalty amongst these young people and families is that, for a range of reasons, they experience difficulty in either accessing services or navigating their way around the service system. We get to know people, their strengths, passions and dreams and can assist them to:  Meet new people in the community  Think about their dreams, goals and future  Explore interests and passions such as joining an art group, walking group or book club Services offered  Learn new skills through joining a class or course  Get paid employment or a volunteer role.

At the community level, Linkers can work with community organisations, clubs and groups, businesses and mainstream services. An organisation may contact their local Linker to request information and support so they can be more inclusive of people with disability, their families and carers. Alternatively, a Linker may contact a local organisation to explore opportunities for an individual they are working with or broader community projects. Fit and Fun (In partnership with Fitness First) Our physical health programs can vary Fit and Fun an early intervention and prevention program targeting young people who are socially isolated and experiencing physical health and mental health needs; such as anxiety, stress and body image concerns. The purpose of the program is to introduce young people to physical exercise in a safe and controlled environment, to meet like- minded peers, build friendships and to improve their overall wellbeing.
