Sample Incentive programme & Riksgränsen A trip to the Northern lights Day 1

Arrive at Airport in the north of , 200 km north of the Arctic circle, in time for lunch at the VIP lounge at the airport. Change into winter extreme clothing provided by us (down pants, fur hat, gloves, balaclava and insulated winter boots packed in sacks with the name of each guest). Take a husky dog sleigh transfer (roughly 1 hour) from the airport to the Ice Hotel, stopping for drinks along the way. (The luggage is sent directly to the hotel.) Check in at the , and have a guided tour of this spectacular hotel, completely built in ice. Walk to the small village of Jukkasjärvi, to the farm for activities among the reindeer: Reindeer driving on track, visiting and feeding the reindeer, have a guided tour of the Sami herders’ place. A traditional Sami dinner is served in a big warm Sami hut followed by drinks in the at the Ice Hotel. Spend the night at the Icehotel.

Husky transfer

The dogs are howling and very eager to get going. The group sits down in the sleds and takes off. The dogs go quiet immediately and all there is to hear is their paws against the , and the dogsleigh driver’s commands to the huskies. A stop will be made en route in a lap tent set up exclusively for the group for either a late lunch or some afternoon snacks and warm beverages. There is a fire in the middle of the tent that adds warmth and atmosphere. The transfer ends right outside the Icehotel.

The Icehotel

200 km north of the Arctic Circle, next to the mighty glacial river Torne, there is a village called Jukkasjärvi. Here, the iconic Icehotel has been crafted in a unique incarnation, every year for the last 25 winters. Each time filled with original art work created by artists from around the world, this hotel is not only the first of its kind in the world – it’s also the largest. The sixty-odd rooms, the ice bar, church and majestic main hall are all made with exclusive, pure ice from the Torne River. The Icebar The Icehotel Cabins next to the Icehotel. Day 2

Wake up with a glass of warm lingonberry juice, served by the hotel staff. Enjoy a hot sauna followed by a hearty Swedish breakfast at the Icehotel. Transfer through the beautiful higlands to the Björkliden . Have an introduction to snowmobiling and take a 40 km snow mobile safari to the ski resort Riksgränsen. En route, have lunch inside a cosy cabin at the Låkktatjocka mountain station: a special Swedish waffle lunch with cloudberry jam. When time is right, drive down from the highlands to the hotel in Riksgränsen. Spend the afternoon with activities in Riksgränsen: Downhill skiing, cross country skiing or snow shoe walk or just spend a leisurely afternoon at the spa at the lovely resort. Dinner will be served at the Riksgränsen Hotel. After dinner, you take a guided Northern lights tour to Abisko National Park, followed by drinks at the hotel bar – Grönan. Spend the night at Riksgränsen Hotel.

Following dinner at Abisko Mountain Station, take the chair-lift up on the mountain Njoula. Aurora Sky Station is probably the best place in the world to explore the Northern Lights. No city lights, almost absolute darkness, the sky and the stars – nothing disturbs this experience. The group will have a tour of the station and learn more about the Northern Lights and how to find it. Day 3 After the buffet breakfast, take a short walk to the frozen river for a guided snowmobile safari through the wild highlands. At camp Nordanjaure, you may compete for fun in the “Winter Olympics”: Swedish “kick-sledding”, for Arctic char, tandem skiing, snow shoe race, or cross country skiing. Drinks will be served during the games in a tent while warming up by the large fire. During the afternoon you may spend your time skiing, cross country skiing, show shoe walking or according to the options available. Or you can just relax in the beautiful surroundings at Riksgränsen. In the evening, take the snowmobile or walk to the gala dinner in a tepee on the frozen river next to the hotel. After dinner, gather for drinks in a private club area at the hotel. Spend the night at the Riksgränsen hotel.

Have a nice buffet breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to city of Kiruna, and visit the the world’s largest underground mine, run by LKAB. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Transfer to airport and flight back.

At the world’s largest underground mine, LKAB. 60.000 tonnes of iron ore is brought up every day by 500 workers. There are 500 kilometres of asphalt roads and a railway system at 850 meters below ground. A bus takes you to the exhibition mine 540 meters below ground, for a guided tour and a video of LKAB and its evolution during the last 100 years. This gives an excellent picture of modern mining techniques. Nearly 20 million tonnes iron ore is annually refined in the factories on the mountain backside. Budget
