OLD COLLEGIANS RUGBY UNION CLUB Tregenza Times 11th October 2019 What’s ahead at OC ! Annual General Meeting: Please be advised that the Annual General Meeting for the Old Collegians Rugby Union Football Club will be held for the purposes of presentations of the officers’ reports, annual accounts and balance sheet, for the election of new Life Members and for the election of officers and selectors. Financial social members, financial playing members and life members are entitled to attend and vote at the meeting. Date, venue and time of meeting will be advised shortly. 2020 Committee and Life Membership Nominations Nominations for Life Membership and 2020 Committee should be submitted. Please send to the Secretary by 30th November. Nominations forms are available from the Secretary. Email: [email protected] Club Room Open Times Due to the impending renovations the Club Rooms will not be open for the ensuing few weeks. All members will be advised when the Bar Area will become available for social drinks. Working Bee Before work can commence on the renovations there is much to do! Everything upstairs and down needs to be packed up and placed into Containers for storage. This will be a mammoth task, so ALL HANDS will be needed. If “one” person from every member family donates two to three hours to the task over the allocated weekend, it will be accomplished in no time. More details will follow shortly with the date and rostered times etc. Club News Under 12’s Representatives Check out the players from Old Collegians U12s who represented the SA Central Captains Regional Team. Every player had an outstanding tournament and were unlucky to lose out to the Southern Hulks in the Grand Final. Congratulations Alecia! Bon Voyage—Benny Blackwell We wish Ben all the best as he heads off to spend the winter months playing Rugby in Scarborough, York, UK. According to Google, Scarborough, is a popular seaside destination. However being on the North Sea over the English winter will be very chilly we imagine!!! Rug up Benny!!!! Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Happy 21st Birthday Joel! Old Collegians extends birthday wishes to Joel Pepper who recently celebrated his 21st Birthday with family and friends. Club News! South Australia U23s played in the recent NRC11 Championships. Their opening game, on the Friday night, against NSW Country XV was a tough encounter with the NSW team running out convincing winners. The next match against Tasmania was far more evenly matched with the young team from SA winning the game 28 vs 22. Our Old Collegians players were outstanding: - Joel Pepper was dominant in the loose and acquitted himself really well after a great season in the blue & red. - Ruan Fourie ran and tackled hard in the centres and bagged himself a try in the second half showing maturity and a rugby brain well beyond his years. - Bradley Killick cleared out well at the breakdown throughout and crossed the line towards the end of the second half to score the winning try and earned himself 'Man of the Match'. Well Done - flying the flag for Old Collegians in style! Club News! Congratulations to David Pyper and his band of Merry Crippled Crows who came away with the Bronze Medal at the Australian Masters Games Rugby Competition. Rugby Union SA is hosting a FEMALE Rugby Gala Day at Woodville Rugby Union Football Club on 19th October. Current Wallaroo and Super W player Rebecca Clough will be a special guest coach for players. Perth-based Clough has been involved in the top level of the sport for more than a decade. She has represented Australia at two Rugby World Cups, and plays for RugbyWA in the National Super W competition. The day will run with 2 age groups: 09:30 - 10:30, 10 Years and under for fun rugby games 11:00 - 13:00, 11 Years and above for skill develop- ment and training matches. Number dependant, but girls 7s games in under 12s, 14s, 16s & 18s. Seniors are invited to attend and assist with coaching and mentoring of Junior players.
