22 OD BC’s newest competition series, Making It, challenges talented Dayna Isom Johnson, crafters in what might best be described as The Great British Nick Offerman, Amy Poehler Baking Show goes to summer camp. The charming show reunites and Simon Doonan former Parks and Recreation costars Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman as the series’ hosts. Poehler is a crafting novice who Nblithely shares, “The only thing I know how to make is trouble.” Her wide-eyed enthusiasm and lack of crafting talent are relatable to anyone who’s ever tried — and failed — to re-create a project from the aspirational yet humbling website Pinterest. Offerman is an expert woodworker who is a perfect juxtaposition to Poehler’s inexperience, and his trademark deadpan demeanor is frequently belied by his infectious giggle. “Nick is an amazing maker, and I wouldn’t have been able to do this without him by my side,” says Poehler. “Any chance I get to work with a friend and talent like him, I consider myself lucky.” Parks and Recreation fans will rejoice at this sublime reunion, as Poehler and Offerman’s playful banter has never been better. TOTAL KNOCK OUT Kevin Hart Takes A Swing At Primetime TV. By Kellie Freeze People are used to seeing Kevin Hart in blockbusters. The top-grossing comedian has starred in megaplex mega- successes including the comedies Think Like a Man, The Wedding Ringer, Get Hard and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. This summer, the dynamo is bringing his unstoppable energy to television, where he’ll host CBS’ competition series TKO: Total Knock Out. Hart told CBS News, “We’ve made a great show for everybody, something that all, all, all people can enjoy.” In each episode of TKO, five players from all walks of life take on the show’s massive indoor obstacle course containing elements that executive producer Mark Burnett explains range from “crossing rickety, unstable bridges to running and leaping across moving platforms, and it’s all while your competitors are trying to slow you down by knocking you off the course with huge projectiles.” So in a case of “us versus them,” while one player attempts the challenging course, the others fire projectiles from the course’s four menacingly named battle stations. “It’s an obstacle course meets dodgeball,” says Burnett. “It’s athletic, comedic and 100 percent fun.” Obstacle courses have enjoyed a massive surge in popularity, thanks to races like Spartan Race and Tough Mudder and TV series like Ultimate Beastmaster and American Ninja Warrior. It was only a matter of time before Burnett turned his producing prowess to the trend, because no one knows obstacle courses better than he does. Burnett started his TV career by producing the international Eco Challenge series before introducing his global hit Survivor with its legendary obstacle course infusion. TKO’s indoor course offers the audience an up-close look at the race’s action and a front-row seat to Hart’s excited antics. Hart’s vibrant personality shines and his enthusiasm is contagious, and while he claims that TKO’s contestants “do not have to be a five-star athlete to win,” we’d love to see Hart — a pint-sized powerhouse and fitness buff — give the course a go. “Kevin is a shining global beacon of comedy, of fitness and of fun,” says Burnett. “He is the perfect star for TKO, and I’m so grateful we get to work together on primetime CBS.”
