A very warm welcome to the 17th Prize Distribution and Annual Day Function of Bal Bharati Public School, Noida.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are indeed honoured to have amidst us our Chief Guest, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of State for Culture and Tourism and Civil Aviation, Govt. of . Prior to this, he was the Chairman and Managing Director of the Kailash Healthcare chain of hospitals.

Dr. Sharma completed his M.B.B.S from the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi University & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. He served as the Chairman of the Indian Medical Association, Noida Branch, from 2001 to 2003.

He started his career as a General Physician from a small clinic in Noida in 1983, but sensing the growing medical needs of the society, he soon established a chain of multi–speciality hospitals.

Dr. Mahesh Sharma has received more than 200 National & International awards in different fields, that include social work and health awareness programmes. Among various other recognitions and awards, he received the Delhi Medical Association Award for Community Medicine Services in the year 2001.

We at Bal Bharati, have always endeavored to make the young learners believe in themselves and their capabilities to the utmost extent and break all the barriers of achievement in every field.

The Bal Bharati Parivar is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of young achievers in the past year (session 2014-15). As always, we had a plethora of successes, triumphs and victories to look back at. These not only include the academic front, but also the co-curricular activites which apart from sports and various art forms also include the art of maintaining good inter-personal relations and the practice of the idea of self-discipline.

Under the ‘Connecting Classrooms Programme’ of British Council, 6 students from our school participated in a drama competition held at DLF Public School Ghaziabad, on 10 May ’14. Suhana Ali (XI) was acknowledged & awarded for her team effort and histrionics.

Face to Faith- Video Conference

‘Face to Faith’ is a Global Educational Programme for Middle and Secondary School students run by the ‘Tony Blair Foundation’. It connects the students worldwide via a secure website where they interact and discuss global issues from a variety of faith and belief perspectives.

Face to Faith has had a noticeable impact on the students in the last one year. They have become confident, conscious, and sensitized towards various societal issues.

After reviewing the engagement levels of the school the Foundation had requested the school for certification, the review of which took place on 28 Nov ’14. The school was conferred with the ‘GOLD AWARD’ and subsequently the ‘OUTSTANDING SCHOOL AWARD’ by the Tony Blair Foundation for its active participation in myriad meaningful dialogues between the students of various nations.

Team Blogging

Our school had the opportunity to participate in the Team Blogging project on the occasion of ‘Peace Day’, which commenced on 22 Sep ’14 and continued till 17 Oct ’14. Our students recorded their responses to blogging by the students of Diponegoro 1 Senior High School, Indonesia and Jenison High School, USA. Later, the students wrote their blogs on the given topic- Who / What Inspires Me to Make Peace?

Continuing its journey with the British Council, the Montessori Department undertook activities like “TELL A TALE” and many others like making of a head gear, story book compilation, role play, dramatization and reading of vocabulary cards were taught with the ultimate aim of inculcating moral values through stories.

Peace Day Celebrations (International Dimension)

Under the aegis of British Council, WORLD PEACE DAY was celebrated from 22 to 29 Sep ’14. The following activities were conducted :

1. Formation of Peace Symbol. Montessori children dressed up in white made a formation of peace symbol with the rendition of a Peace Song - “Waving Flag”.

2. DRILL FOR PEACE. 750 students of Cls II to VI, assembled in the school ground and through a Drill made a formation of the word ‘PEACE’.

3. Screening of Movie. A movie on ‘Struggle for Gaza Strip / Conflict between Palestine and Isreal was screened for the students of Cls VI-VIII followed by obtaining feedback from the students.

4. Peace Tree. A Peace Tree with 3-D Doves and Peace Messages was prepared by the students of Class VIII and the Art Department.

5. Peace Wall. The students of Classes XI & XII set up a Peace Wall with attractive posters and thought provoking quotes within the school premises.

6. Peace March. Spreading the message of World Peace, a Peace March was carried out in and around Sector – 21, Noida, by the students of Classes IX & X. The event was fervently supported by the Principal, Vice Principal, HM (Sr), Class Teachers and Support Staff.

UKERI Grant Teacher Exchange Programme

The school was engaged in a teacher exchange programme in collaboration with St. Joseph’s Academy, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, to enrich the teaching community in the international back-drop. Mrs Sarika Passi, Assistant Teacher (Primary) had visited Ayrshire, Scotland to participate in the Global School Partnership Programme.

Mrs Aruna Sharma, TGT (Geo), had visited Glasgow, U K, during the session 2013-14 to participate in the Global School Partnership Programme.

 C-4 HT Survey. We share our pride and joy in the recognition extended to us by the Hindustan Times, C-fore Survey, Ranking the school among the Top Ten Schools of Noida.

 Education World : Indian School Rankings. The school had been ranked at the 89th position among the leading schools of the country in a quality survey conducted by Education World Magazine. The school bagged the admirable 54th Rank in the U P State Ranking and was placed at a commendable 6th position in city rankings.

Academic Achievements

Times are changing and so is the educational landscape. This generation needs a global perspective and a fresh pedagogy. Keeping in sync with the ever changing scenario, the school, in a recently concluded Times of India Survey – 2014, had been ranked at number 6 position amongst the Noida and Greater Noida Schools.

National Sanitation Ratings:

All CBSE schools in collaboration with the Ministry of HRD and German Technical Cooperation were rated as per their sanitation status in five colour categories pertaining to infrastructure, institutional sustainability, environment sustainability, health & hygiene and pedagogic aspects.

The school received its online Green Rating Award which meant, it had complied with 91- 100% of the norms thereby taking significant steps towards effective sanitation and improvement in service delivery.

Meritorious Achievers

Ten students of Class XII qualified the first level JEE (Main) Exam conducted by CBSE. They had appeared for the JEE (Advanced) on 25 May ’14.

The cut offs for the JEE Advanced General Category were 115 Marks, SC-74 Marks, ST-53 Marks and OBC-47 Marks.

Bee State Level Painting Competition. Yash Garg (VI) qualified the BEE State Level Painting Competition – 2014 held at Lucknow on 15 Nov 2014. State Level Painting Competition. Namrata Devgun (VI), Devojeet Modak (VIII) and Mitali Gosain (IX) were shortlisted to compete for On-The Spot State Level Painting Competition organized by Power Finance Corporation on behalf of the Govt. of India at FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi on 15 Nov ’14.

Yash Garg (VI) secured the 223rd rank at the All India Online Painting Competition 2015 organised by the Indian Army.

Namrata Devgun (VI) won a consolation prize in the N.T.P.C State Level Painting Competition held on 28 Nov 14 at Lucknow, U.P.

Soumya Tiwari (IV) was selected for the Zonal Round of the All India Camlin Art Contest 2014.

Raghav Singh (VI) won the 2nd prize in the Jr. Category event, Kaleidoscope – the Annual PACE Inter School Painting Competition held at the India Gate lawns on 05 Dec ’14. Raghav won the 1st Runner’s Up Trophy for the school, a certificate and a gift hamper from Pidilite.

(More than 1500 students from over 700 schools in Delhi/NCR had participated in the above event.)

Keshav Kumar Jha (VIII) is a Soduko Puzzle freak and finds his daily space in the winners column of ‘The Hindu’, a national daily.

Tarun Ajay Singh (VI) had secured National Rank-7 and City Rank-1 in FTRI (FIITJEE Talent Reward Exam) 2014 conducted by FIITJEE across 65 cities of India.

National Talent Search Examination 2014-15. Abhiraj Srivastava (XI) had qualified the 2nd level of NTSE, the most prestigious scholarship exam conducted by the NCERT. Abhiraj was the 15th proud recipient of the NTSE scholarship since the year 2004.

Mrs D Mondal, PGT (English) and Mrs Ruby Singh, PGT (Commerce) were appointed by CBSE to review the chapter ‘Entrepreneurship as Innovation and Problem Solving’ of the Class XI text book in the subject ‘Entrepreneurship’.

Rekha Satra (VII), a visually impaired girl from Saksham (an NGO), was selected to attend a global gathering for Disabled Girl Children organized by Wadah Group in Indonesia in March ’15.

FTRE – 2014 Zonal Awards.

Tarun Ajay Singh (VI) and Yash Garg (VI) were awarded Gold and Silver Medals for their high scores at the FTRI-2014 examination conducted by FIITJEE. Tarun Ajay Singh was placed 7th in the Delhi/NCR region and Yash was placed at 558th Rank in the above examination. Nearly 1 lac students had appeared for the above examination conducted by FIITJEE.

R Avinash (XII) qualified the prestigious NDA Entrance Examination to join Airforce. He is one of the two students selected out of 150 students who were nominated for the final round of the NDA selection.

CBSE National Science Exhibition 2014. Ashish Pathak (XII) and Rashmikant Singh (XII) won the National level CBSE Science Exhibition 2014-15 held at Blue Bells Public School, Sector 10, Gurgaon, for their working model of ‘Techno Train’. Out of the 320 teams

selected for Nationals from various schools all over India, BBPS, Noida, had qualified the National round and was amongst the top 20 teams for contesting and presenting its model at the International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS) on 20 May ’15. The participating school team won a cash prize of Rs.3000/- each.

Mr Ashok Ganguly, Ex-chairman, CBSE (one of the jury members) was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The award ceremony was also graced by Dr Abhishek Mishra, Minister for Vocational and Skill Development, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh.

Ms Ritu Nagar, School Counselor and Ms B Fialok, TGT (English), received the above awards at a glittering ceremony on 07 May ’15 in Lucknow on behalf of the School Principal.

All India Asteroid Search Campaign. The school team comprising Tarun Ajay Singh (VII) and Hrithik Joshi (VII) was selected for the most prestigious, All India Asteroid Search Campaign conducted by SPACE. (AIASC is one of the most prominent projects which is conducted in collaboration with International Astronomical Search Collaboration, Texas, USA.)

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

It has been widely understood that class room transaction in academic subjects alone cannot foster development in all areas or help to develop life skills.

We take care to inculcate qualities such as Self Esteem, Positive Attitude and Life Skills of creative and Critical Thinking by involving and giving our students various opportunities in Inter/ Intra School Competitions.

CLUBS Astronomy Club

 Arya Pinaki (VIII) and Vinamr Bajaj (VIII) made six NEO observations as a part of All India Asteroid Search Campaign, 2014 announced by SPACE on 14 May 2014 in collaboration with International Astronomical Search Collaboration (USA).

 Four children along with the Astronomy Club Coordinator attended the workshop on ‘The Sally Ride Earth KAM Project’, on 15 July 2014 at Amity International School, Vasundhara. It is a NASA sponsored educational programme that enables children to photograph and examine Earth from a different perspective of space.

 Ten children along with the Astronomy Club Coordinator attended a workshop on SUPERMOON WATCH at the SPACE Head Office in Janakpuri on 04 August, 2014 and were later trained on the 76mm Reflector Telescope to view objects. The Super Moon Watch was planned in the school premises for the students , parents and teachers on 09 Aug ’14, but it had to be called off due to inclement weather conditions. Nevertheless, a power point presentation on the Supermoon was uploaded in SMART class and shown to the students on 09 Aug ’14.

 A session on ‘Seasons’ was conducted on 20 Sep ’14 wherein Tilt & Orbit of the Earth, understanding of seasons and their causes, astronomical significance of seasons in our life and changes observed in the night sky during different seasons was discussed.

 Project Paridhi, a flagship project of SPACE to popularize hands on Science was conducted in the school premises on 23 Sep ’14. Under this project, one takes measurements of the shadows made by the Sun to measure the circumference of Earth as done 2300 years back by astronomer Eratosthenes. The Astronomy Club members of the school, who had been trained by the staff of SPACE, organized the event.

Project Paridhi, was also conducted by SPACE on Vernal equinox; 21 March 2015 at Barapullah (Sundial). The students measured the circumference of the earth using the Eratosthenes method.

 Under the aegis of SPACE, the Astronomy Club celebrated the largest public space event-World Space Week from 04 to 15 Oct 2014 with the theme ‘Global Navigation, Satellite Systems’. Various activities like Online Painting Competition, Model Making, Face Painting, Screening of Movie on Space and Astronomy, were organized in the school. The students of Class XI showcased the presentation on the ‘Journey of Mangalyan’ to all the students.

The following sessions of the Astronomy Club in association with SPACE were also held.

 The session ‘Understanding the Telescope and Hands on Telescope’ was held on 27 Mar ’15 which dealt with the Introduction to astronomical telescopes; learning to align the telescopes; pointing and focussing the Newtonian reflector telescopes to view bodies like the moon, planets and stars.

Environment Club

 World Earth Day Celebrations. Under the aegis of Environment Club, the Earth Day celebrations were held in the school premises on 23 Apr ’14. An Inter Class Poster Making and Badge Making Competitions for mass awareness on topics – ‘Protect our Earth & Environment ’ and ‘I am not a Litter Bug’ were held. The students also took a pledge for saving Mother Earth from the impending threats of global warming, pollution, deforestation and draught.

 Greening and beautification of the school campus was initiated by the Primary (I-V) and Middle Wing (VI-X) students by planting green plants in waste plastic bottles outside and inside the school campus. The club wishes to carry forward the initiative to residential societies.

 The club had registered 450 students from Classes VIII to X for the Green Olympiad, conducted by TERI in collaboration with CBSE.

 A Poster Making Competition with the theme ‘Save Sparrows’ was conducted for the students of Classes VI & VII on 19 Aug ’14.

 Graffiti on Road Safety Measures was initiated for the parents on PTM dated 02 Aug ’14 and suggestions were invited from parents to make the traffic smooth in front of the school gate during morning and afternoon hours.

 The Club held its Anti-Cracker Campaign suggesting all of us to celebrate only ‘Green Diwali’.

 The News Nation Channel showcased one of the many best practices (Innovative way of using plastic coke bottles) of the Environment Club to the nation.

 Under the aegis of Toxic links and Microsoft, various activities like Being Fuel smart rather than Fue’lish and Bio-Mimicry were taken up by the students of Classes VI – XII. The reports have been sent to the heads of Microsoft to assess and evaluate. Some of the activities were highlighted on Toxic links and Microsoft link (https://www.facebook.com/media / set/?set=a.751933984872341.1073741852.538487009550374&type=1) to popularize the agenda.

 Toxics Links, an Environmental NGO, under the flagship of ‘Create to Inspire Programme’ supported and funded by Microsoft India felicitated 29 schools and 60 teachers of Noida and Ghaziabad for their genuine efforts to save the environment at an event held in the school premises on 26 Dec 2014.

The felicitation event saw the participating schools and teachers being awarded by the Associate Director, Toxic Links, Mr. Satish Sinha and Ms Manjari Gopalan from Microsoft India, in several categories.

The school bagged five awards for Environment Excellence-Sustainable School, Completion of Task-14 Tool kits, Environment Excellence-Best use of Social Media, Environment

Excellence-Best use of creative Expression/Community Outreach and Maximum achievement in number of tool kits by a teacher.

 Earth Hour - The Environment Club of the school distributed pamphlets encouraging households and businesses in the vicinity to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour between 08.30 p.m. and 09.30 p.m. on 22 Mar ’15. Our sincere efforts in the past 04 years to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change has slowly set the pace for a mind change among the masses. CBSE had recognized the efforts made by the school in the past and have included this exercise amongst, one of the ‘Best Practices’ implemented in CBSE Schools.

Health & Welness Club

 The school observed World Autism Day on 02 Apr ’14. Information regarding the same was disseminated through display boards and a video was uploaded on the Facebook page of the Health and Welness Club, BBPS, Noida, for sensitizing the students about Autism.

 A video conference was held by the club members on the UN Malaria Day with Experts and Resource faculty of the Tony Blair Foundation Trust and other four schools on 24 Apr ’14. A detailed discussion about fighting mosquitoes and eradicating diseases like Malaria and Polio from the face of the world was made with the conference concluding on a lighter note, i.e, “Do not under estimate the power of a small mosquito.”

 A Health Alert on Monsoon related diseases dated 01 Aug ’14was released from the Principal’s desk

 Children enthusiastically prepared a wall graffiti on club foot disease which was displayed on the school gate on 02 Aug ’14 (PTM Day) for spreading awareness about the disease.

 Under the aegis of Rachna Sagar Publications and Vasan Eye Care, an eye check up camp was organized for the staff and students in the sick bay of the school on 09 Aug ’14. Coupons and Privilege cards were distributed to staff for the follow up eye care.

 A Health Check up camp was organized for students and staff under the project ORANGE NOIDA, with special focus on Obesity and Diabetes.

 A workshop dealing with the physical, mental and emotional changes in the girl child at puberty was organized under the aegis of Procter and Gamble on 15 Nov ’14. Girl students of Classes VI & VII along with their mothers attended the same.

 Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan. To promote the cleanliness drive, a huge banner on Swachh Vidyalaya had been put on display in the school premises.

Interact Club

 In order to orient the students against cruelty towards animals, a power point presentation on People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was screened for the students of Classes VI – X on 02 May ’14.

 The Interact Club members held IT Classes on a regular basis on Saturdays for the ANKURIANS, the underprivileged school, run in the school premises from 03.00 p.m. to 06.30 p.m.

 A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the Interact Club of the school on 02 Aug ’14, in association with Rotary Club, Noida. The support and kind cooperation of the Staff

and Parent Community made the camp a huge success. 86 donors donated 450 ml of blood each to the blood bank.

It may be noted that the school has been organizing Blood Donation Camps, on a regular basis for the last six years.

 The Interact Club of BBPS, Noida, joined hands with‘GOONJ’and donated material like blankets, grocery items and medicines etc. to help the victims of devastating floods in Jammu & Kashmir.

 The Interact Club organized its 5th Installation Ceremony on 01 Oct ’14. The school was honoured to have distinguished guests from ROTARY CLUB, Noida, to grace the event.

 On 21st October 2014, the Interactors visited the Sai Kripa orphanage at Sector-22, NOIDA. They interacted with the children, under the care of Mrs. Anjina Rajgopal, recipient of ‘CNN-IBN Senior Citizen Award’. The students of Class VI made gift hampers that were given to the children.

 Donated 04 Computers to Saksham, a School for visually impaired and physically disabled students.

 Organised a cleanliness drive on 17 Nov ’14 at Govt. School, Sorkha Village under the programme Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

 Organised a cleanliness drive on 29 Jan ’15 in and around the Sector and market area.

 The Interact Club members visited the old age home, Sector – 56 on 25 Feb ’15. The Students performed dances, sang songs and spent quality time with the Senior Citizens of the old age home. It was a memorable experience for them.

 Interactors collected items like blankets, medicines, grocery items, torches etc as relief materials for the earthquake hit victims of Nepal and donated them to the NGO ‘Goonj’.

Heritage Club

 Thirty seven students of the Heritage Club from Classes VI to VIII along with two teachers of the Club visited the prestigious National Museum, New Delhi on 09 Aug ’14. This trip was planned out mainly to focus on the Bronze Age Civilization, the Indus Valley Civilization, extending between 3300-1300 BCE.

As a follow up of the visit to National Museum by the students of Heritage Club, Jewellery making activity was conducted. Students prepared replicas of exquisite jewellery pieces as exhibited in the museum, using clay, paper, wheat flour and paints.

 Visit to Heritage Mela. Students of the Heritage Club from Classes VI to VIII along with two teachers of the club went to Heritage Mela at Nizamuddin Basti, New Delhi on 15 Nov ’14. The trip was planned out mainly to focus on the process of restoration of our historical monuments and their surrounding areas in the city of New Delhi. Nizamuddin Basti is historically known as Ghiaspur, as made by Ghiasud-din-Tughlaq 700 years back. Children took a guided tour of the ‘basti’ – the heritage walk. Back from the walk in the ‘mela’ there were some stone workers showing students how to cut stones and make different designs on them or do calligraphy on stones- this was indeed a good experience for the students.

Robotics Club

 Four sessions were conducted for the students of Robotics Club in which the basics of Robotics were discussed including details of various motors, gears and locomotion mechanics. The students mastered the art of handling and maneuvering manual robots.

 The students started dabbling in AUTONOMOUS models.

A. English For Classes V & VII

A Common Proficiency Test in English language under the aegis of Academic Council, Child Education Society, was held on 22 Aug ’14 for Classes V & VII.

The analysis of the language proficiency test as forwarded by the In-service Training Centre, Child Education Society, revealed that the majority of the students in Classes V & VII are proficient users of English language.

The analysis also suggested that 9% of the students in Classes V & VII were not proficient users of the English language.

B. Maths For Classes V & VII

A Common Proficiency Test in Mathematics, under the aegis of Academic Council, Child Education Society was held on 29 Aug ’14 for Classes V & VII.

The CPT analysis of the school underlines the fact that majority of the students are good in solving the routine text book oriented problems and sums.

The School team had won the U-15 Boys and Doubles Title along with the Runners Up Trophy in the U-18 Individual Championship organized by the District Table Tennis Association held at Cambridge School, Gr Noida, between 11 and 13 Aug ’14.

Shubham Rawat (IX), U-19 and Unmukt Rawat (VIII), U-14 won the Runers Up Trophy in Inter School Table Tennis Tournament held at Tyagraj Indoor Stadium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, on 16 Aug ’14.

Hockey

The U-14 Girls team participated in the CBSE East Zone Hockey Tournament at Dayawati Modi Academy, Rampur, from 14 to 19 Oct ’14. The team lifted the ‘winners’ trophy during the CBSE East Zone Hockey Tournament.

The School Hockey team had qualified for the CBSE National Hockey Tournament to be played at Dayawati Modi Academy, Rampur, between 12 and 17 Dec ’14.

The school Hockey team secured the third place during the 3rd Late Shri Daulat Ram Verma Memorial Hockey Tournament held at the National Stadium, Delhi, from 10 to 16 Nov ’14. The school team also received the Fair Play Trophy.

The Girls’ Hockey Team represented the school in the CBSE National Hockey Championship held at Dayawati Modi Academy, Rampur, between 12 and 17 Dec ’14.

Kashvi Gupta (VIII) won the Runners Up Trophy in the U P State Sub Junior Championship held at Aligarh, from 30 July to 01 Aug ’14. The event was organized by the UP Badminton Association.

Kashvi Gupta (VIII) was selected to represent the U P Badminton team to participate in the National Badminton Championship on 04 Sep ’14 at Rohtak and is also undergoing training sponsored by the State Government.

Kashvi Gupta (VIII) won the U-15 Women’s Doubles Title, at Yonex Noida and Greater Open District Badminton Championship and was placed in the third position in the U-13, 15, & 17 singles category.

Kanupriya (VII) bagged the 3rd position in U-11 age group during the Yonex District Badminton Championship held at Noida Stadium between 05 and 08 Oct ’14.

Kashvi Gupta (VIII) participated in the All India PNB Metlife Junior Badminton Championship (North Zone) 2015 from 03 to 06 Feb ’15 at Thyagraj Indoor Stadium, INA, Delhi. She reached up to Quarter Finals.

CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society is an authorized body under School Games Federation of India. The selection trials for the same were hosted at BBPS (ND) for the U-14 Boys and Girls on 16 Nov ’14. 338 Football players from different states i.e. U.P, Delhi, Haryan, M.P., Rajasthan and Gujarat appeared for the trials. Two students of BBPS fraternity, one from BBPS (PP) and BBPS (ND) each were selected to participate in the 60th School National Games Football Championship to be held at Guwahati in Dec ’14.

Abhinav Joshi (V) and Dhruv Chopra (V) won Gold medals each and Kartik Negi (V) and Aryan Jain (IV) won Silver medals each in the Karate Belt Test Exam held at Noida Stadium on 31 Aug ’14 and Abhinav Joshi (V) was conferred with Black Belt in the grading test.

All India Inter Unit Sports Meet 2014

8th ALL India Inter Unit Bal Bharati Sports Meet 2014. Organised by the Sports Council, CES and held at BBPS (DW) & (PP) saw 18 units of Bal Bharati Public Schools from all over India participating in games, i.e. Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Athletics, Lawn Tennis and Table Tennis.

Summer Vacation Coaching

In order to utilize the vacation time fruitfully coaching for various games and sports was organized for the students from 19 May to ’14 Jun ’14 excluding Sundays. 238 students took part in the coaching camp.

Montessori Adventure Camp.

To incorporate an element of adventure and promote experiential learning, a day long adventure camp was held in the school premises on 09 Mar ’14. 403 students from Montessori I, II and Class I attended the camp.

Teach India School Chapter - Under the aegis of Times of India Group

Based on the aptitude, inclination and commitment level gauged during the interviews held at the office of Times of India, 06 students were selected and allocated their respective roles of involvement from the two segments namely, Spoken English Class, Community Mobilization under the Teach India Outreach Programme, an initiative of Times of India group.

Aryan (X), Hardika (X), Sakshi (XI) and Garima (X) held Spoken English Classes for the support staff employees which started on 03 Jul ’14. The teach India programme had been a wonderful and unforgettable journey for students as well as the support staff.

NIE/HT/Times Students’ Workshop

NIE Workshop for creating useful products from waste mate rial was organized by Ms Gunjan from Times of India for the students of Cl asses III - V on 03 and 04 Sep ’14.

Teach India School ProgrammePhase-II–An initiative of the Times of India

Nine students from Classes XI & XII were selected to be a part of this noble initiative, 04 for spoken English, 03 for Community Mobilization and 02 for Outreach Programmes. Overall the training was an enriching experience and the follow up of the same was that these 09 students would be actively involved with ‘Ankur’, an afternoon school for the under privileged, in the school premises. Also, they would further be involved in coaching the support staff of the school.

Parents’ Advocacy Workshop

The Montessori Department of the school organized an in-house Parent Advocacy Session to discuss and educate the parent community on Healthy Tiffin, weight of the school bag and issues related to hiring of private vans for transportation. The Principal in her address, spoke on the subject ‘Health Safety and Nutritional Needs in Children’.

The staff of the Montessori Department addressed the above concerns to which the response of the parents was indeed very positive.

SCHOOL FUNCTIONS

Foundation Day. The school observed its 22nd Foundation Day on 23 April 2014. A special assembly was held to mark the occasion.

Investiture Ceremony. The school held its 12th Annual Investiture Ceremony on 08 May 2014. The members of the Student Council (for 2014-15) were awarded badges for the various posts held by them. Dr Yogendra Narain, IAS (Retd) Former Secretary General was the Chief Guest.

The School held its 12th Annual Scholar Badge/Blazer Ceremony on 22 Jul 14. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr (Mrs) Kiran Datar, Ex-Principal, Miranda House (DU) and Former Advisor, National Knowledge Commission, Govt. of India.

Over 250 students from Classes IV – XI were given badges and certificates for academic excellence.

Master N C Sekhar (VIII) was awarded PTA scholarship of 5000/- for his meritorious achievements in scholastic areas.

Reverberations-2014

The school organised its 12th Inter-school Cultural Festival for the session 2014-15 from 11 to 14 August 2014. 22 schools participated in the 4 day long festival. The inaugural session was graced by the Second Secretary of the Greek Consulate - Mrs. Aikaterini Tsapikidou, who also judged an event of the primary school children ‘Getting Into the Skin of Greek Mythological Characters’.

Sanskrit Week. As per the CBSE guidelines, Sanskrit Week was held from 08 to 13 Aug 2014 wherein various competitions were held for students of Classes VI – X.

Gandhi Jayanti. Believing in the thought that ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ and under the guidelines of CBSE’s Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign, students of Bal Bharati Public School, Noida took the initiative to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in a special way. A special assembly under the aegis of Shakti House was presented on 01 Oct 2014. A cleanliness drive was carried out in school premises by the green ambassadors. The students of Classes XI and XII cleaned the school premises and the adjoining areas under the guidance of Principal, Mrs Asha Prabhakar and respective Class Teachers.

Annual English Play. The Annual English Play ‘The Dear Departed’ was staged on 29 Aug 2014 by the Senior School students in the School Auditorium. Smt Uma Bagla, a noted name in Drama and TV Serials was the Chief Guest.

Teachers’ Day. Was observed on 05 Sep 2014.

Hindi Diwas. The Primary Wing celebrated Hindi Diwas on 09 & 10 Sep 2014. A Book Exhibition was organized by the National Book Trust in memory of Munshi Prem Chand.

ANVESHIKA Science Activity Centre. To ignite the spark of fun learning in young budding scientists through ‘hands on experience’, the Science Activity Centre of the school in collaboration with ANVESHIKA (a nonprofit venture started by Prof. H.C. Verma, IIT, Kanpur with a small group of teachers and educators to promote activity and inquiry based learning) was inaugurated by Mr Suraj Prakash, Secretary, Bal Bharati Public School, Noida, on 20 Sep 2014.

The programme was aimed to promote scientific activities and inquiry based learning in Sciences and help students grow up with innovative ideas.

Book Week. To instill in students a healthy habit of ‘Good Reading’, BBPS, Noida, had organized the Book Week from 9 to 11 Oct 2014. Mrs Anupa Lal, a renowned writer was invited to interact with the students. The school, in collaboration with Scholastic India Pvt Ltd, organized a Book Fair for three days in the school premises.

Annual Day. The Annual Day and Prize Distribution of the school was held on 02 Nov 2014. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Hon’ble Dr Justice A S Anand, Former Chief Justice of India. The event received rave reviews from all quarters.

Kavyalaya, a Hindi Poetry Recitation Competition under the flagship of PTA was held in the School Auditorium for the students of Classes IV & V on 14 Nov 2014 on occasion of Children’s Day.

Unnati Utsav (V) received the trophy dedicated to the National Poet – “ Dinkar” and a cash prize of 5000/- from Shri Deepak Gupta, a famous Hindi Poet, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Winter Carnival (Anand Mela), was held on 28 Dec 2014. The school wore a festive look and offered games, DJ, delicacies and fun rides.

SPICMACAY. Under the SPICMACAY VIRASAT series 2014, a lecture-cum- demonstration programme on Manipuri Dance by Rajkumar Singhajit Singh, a distinguished Manipuri dancer and Shrimati Charu Sija Mathur, an acclaimed Manipuri exponent was held in the school auditorium on 22 Jan 2015.

Aashirwad and Farewell Ceremony was organised on 31 Jan 2015 for the students of Class XII appearing for the Board Examinations in Mar 2015.

Republic Day Celebrations. A special assembly was held on 23 Jan 2015 / 26 Jan 2015 to commemorate the Republic Day and Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti. A cultural programme by Satya & Shanti House and distribution of sweets among the students were the highlights of the day.

CAMPS /TOURS / VISITS

Local Trips

667 students of classes III – VI attended the screening of RIO – 2, the much acclaimed animated movie for children on 02 & 05 May 2014.

A group of 20 ICT club students of Classes IV & V along with 2 teachers visited INDIAN EXPRESS PRINTING PRESS on 18 July 2014.

A group of 68 students (Cl III) along with 4 teachers and a sahayika visited a BISCUIT FACTORY, on 19 July 2014.

As a part and parcel of the Formative Assessment, 162 students of Class IX and 184 students of Class VI visited the National Agriculture Science Museum, Delhi, on 18 & 19 July 2014 and 12 & 13 Aug 2014 respectively.

A group of 62 students from Classes V, VI, VII & X along with 06 teachers left for a two day historical trip to Kurukshetra on 20 Aug 2014. The students visited the archeological sites in and around Kurukshetra.

A group of 72 students of Class III along with 6 teachers visited ANMOL BISCUIT FACTORY, Greater Noida, on 06 Sep 2014.

136 students of Class –V and 11 staff members visited Humayun’s Tomb at New Delhi on 20th Sep 2014

An educational cum recreational trip to Swarn Jayanti Park, Indirapuram was organized for 300 students of Montessori I and II on 29 and 30 Sep 2014 respectively.

A group of 120 students of Class I along with 7 teachers visited SWARNJAYANTI PARK, Ghaziabad, on 14 Nov 2014.

99 students from Class II visited Millennium Indraprastha Park, New Delhi, on 20 Dec 2014.

Five students of Classes IX – XI escorted by Mr Umesh Verma, TGT (Science & Technology) visited National Science Centre on 24 Dec 2014 to see the Northern India Science Fair. The students got an overview of the Science related low cost models.

79 students of Classes III to V accompanied by 06 staff members and HM (Pr) went to Agra on 16 Mar 2015.

EXPERIMENTAL LEARNING Adventure Camp

 In order to incorporate an element of adventure and promote experiential learning through team work, students visited the Activity Centre at Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The details of the trip are as follows:

The tireless spirit that governs us is the hallmark of our accomplishments and we are always in the process of looking for success and beyond success, exploring new horizons, vying for something better and this approach is forever going to be associated with the Bal Bharati, Noida, and I believe perseverance,

diligence and courage, which are a part of the Bal Bharati culture will definitely carry us forward.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Managing Committee and the Board of Management of Child Education Society for extending their help in all respects.

I wish to thank Shri L R Channa, Hon’ble President, CES and Chairman, BBPS, Noida, for being a constant source of inspiration for us and giving us the gumption to take bigger and bigger leaps towards new ventures.

I extend my deep gratitude to Shri O P Bhutani, IPS (Retd), Ex-Chairman, School Managing Committee, who we still turn to for encouragement, guidance and support.

I would also like convey my gratitude to Dr. V K Ahuja, Vice President, CES, for the care and support he has always extended to us.

I am deeply grateful to Mr. Suraj Prakash, Secretary, School Managing Committee, for rendering unsurpassed guidance to us.

I also wish to thank Mr. L V Sehgal whose warm and positive persona has always made us feel supported and cared for.

I am grateful to my fellow Principals for their support and encouragement that we get from time to time.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the Parent Teacher Association for their whole hearted cooperation, which I am sure, we will continue to get in the future.

I also owe my thanks to the district officials of Noida who have helped the school in every possible way.

To conclude this overview of the school’s performance, I would quote T.
