March 14, 2017

Ontario is providing more support for the not-for-profit sector in Guelph and Wellington County to better serve the community, promote diversity and encourage volunteerism.

Liz Sandals, MPP for Guelph was at the Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington to make the announcement that the Centre is receiving $213,894 to launch a new project entitled CCVI (Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement) Training and Implementation Expansion.

The Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington is a capacity building organization which recruits volunteers for local non-profits and charities and provides resources and training to support volunteer management and organizational development. The Volunteer Centre has three main services areas: Volunteer & Membership Services, Information Services and Training Services.

This project leverages the The Ontario Volunteer Centre Network’s Online Learning system to providing learning opportunities and professional development content to Volunteer Centres and managers of volunteers across the province. The learning system is divided into two levels, a provincial training level and a regional training level.

Through its Partnership Grant Program, the province is supporting projects at 21 not-for- profit organizations across Ontario.

Supporting not-for-profit organizations to better serve their communities is part of the government's plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives.

QUOTES “These organizations play an integral part in our social fabric and deliver programs and services that make people’s everyday life better. This support reinforces the importance of a healthy and vibrant not-for-profit sector across Ontario.” — , Minister of Citizenship and Immigration
