27 TGE – pioneer in new technologies
Significant market potential in addition to TGE’s core business: Small to medium-size LNG carriers with IMO type C tanks FLNG solutions from 5,000 to 80,000 m³ with type C tanks for FSRU and FPSO projects (Æ utilize “stranded” gas reserves; target market: isolated energy centres) Efficient LNG BOG reliquefaction based on cascade technology for MAN ME-GI dual fuel engine LNG fuel gas systems
CO2 shipping and offshore liquefaction/storage
28 Small to medium-size LNG carriers
• Capacities: 5,000 m3 up to 70,000 m3 • Ship design packages available • Cargo tanks: cylindrical or bi-lobe type C • Tank material: 9% Ni-steel or Stainless steel
29 Small Scale FPSO: 0.5 mtpa
• IMO type C tanks • 40,000 m³ storage capacity • 4 cylindrical storage tanks • L x B x D: 145 x 43 x 24 m
30 Small Scale LNG FSRU
• Required storage capacities for isolated energy centres much smaller than existing LNG carriers (Æ conversions not economic) • Floating solutions faster to implement • Barge concepts with same reliable tank technology (IMO type C pressure vessels) • Designs available for different processes and heating sources,
based on know-how from large 10 mtpa LNG receiving terminal in LNG import terminals Mugardos/Spain delivered by TGE as EPC contractor
31 Efficient LNG BOG reliquefaction for MAN ME-GI dual fuel engine
Excess Gas Reliquefaction is an energy- and cost efficient option for LNG Carriers The combination of MAN-ME-GI engine, Burckhardt Compression Laby®-GI BOG- compressor and TGE cascade process offers a wide range of operating flexibility at optimised energy consumption The system is based on a combination of well known, reliable components
34 LNG fuel gas systems (for merchant vessels)
• Pending MARPOL VI revision will force vessels operating in Environmental Control Areas (ECAs) to use expensive MGO fuel oil by 2015 – hardware remedies are expensive • In 2016 vessels operating in ECAs will be forced to reduce Nox emissions by 80% - remedies are costly • Norway and Sweden have adopted costly NOx emissions taxes, EU wide taxes will be introduced in the future, these will include CO2 emissions taxes • EU regulations (SOx reduction) will require all vessels in port to operate on MGO or LNG after 2010
35 TGE’s New Fuel Gas Systems
• Capitalize on know-how gained from existing references • Isabella Kosan • Coral Methane • Capitalize on experience in competitive tank fabrication • Vacuum insulated tanks in co-operation with CIMC or • Standard panel or foam in-situ insulation for type C tanks • Development of new tailor-made systems: • Avoid expensive in-tank pumps or oil-free compressors • Compact arrangement • Automatically controlled operation • Patent application pending
36 CO2 shipping and offshore liquefaction /storage • Green House gas reduction
• 20% CO2 reduction in the EU by 2020
• Coal fired power plants are the biggest CO2 emitters - coal acounts for 2/5 of the world‘s energy mix - CCS for new power plants will be compulsory in the EU by 2015 - CCS compulsory to be retrofitted by 2025
