The National Training Center of Scouts and Guides of France is a property purchased by the association in 1952, thanks to a national appeal launched among its members. Before the WWII, Boy Scouts of France used a property in the south of Paris, called Chamarande. This domain was sold after the war and the Scouts left. They then looked for another property with a large park to receive their training camps and rallies. So this is how they acquired this property.

The present castle of Jambville is erected on the thirteenth century, arched cellars and replaces the fourteen century castle. The second castle was built in the seventeenth century around the tower with a spiral staircase. Opposite this building was a french garden. In the 1760s, the Maussion’s family, whose arms still decorate the castle bought the property and transformed it completely. The castle was enlarged and the main building was built with two pediments. The building was first oriented north-south. The French garden was replaced by a landscaped garden decorated with fake antique monuments as the Greek temple, the pheasant pond or St Damien oratory. The avenue of lime trees was created to give a wonderful perspective. In the park of 50 ha, the three bridle paths were enlarged and magnificent trees were planted near the castle: maples, cedars, Ginko Bilobas, Yews.

During the autumn season, the park is beautifully red colored. This property has retained its original purpose, to be a host centre for Scout and non-scout groups. Therefore, since 2004, Scouts and Guides of France have invested a lot to renovate this field: restoration of lavatory in the park, building of new administrative offices, restoration of the wall of the 17th century part of the castle, the main gate, common spaces and the Orangery. At the same time, the Center continues its opening policy thanks to the activity center of Jambville and Brueil en Vexin that is hosted every Wednesday and during school holidays.

Nowadays, the Centre employs 31 persons, 5 volunteers in partnership with ministery and is helped by 80 volunteers. The employee staff is composed of 5 teams (front office, restauration, technical & events, activites, scout shop and logistics) to assume every guest request: many jobs are here: cookers, housekeeping staff, an electrician, a mason, a material manager and an outdoor spaces manager, a logistic technician, activities leader...
