Social Awareness
Social Awareness REMEMBERING THE VICTIMS “Research shows that prevention efforts - by teachers, administrators, parents, com- munity members, and even students– can reduce violence and improve the overall school environment.” (Toppo) It is the responsibility of everyone within a community to be aware, speak up, and get involved to make sure that students and schools are safe. After Columbine several clues about Har- ris, and Klebold surfaced. They had been arrested, wrote gruesome journals and had people buy weapons for them. If just Cassie Bernall, 17 one of these facts would have been presented before Steven Curnow, 14 it is possible that this tragedy could have been prevented. People need to speak Corey Depooter, 17 up and get involved when something is not right. Kelly Fleming, 16 Works Cited Matthew Kechter, 16 CNN.
