HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – SECTION 119 PUBLIC PATH ORDERS 2018

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER FOOTPATHS 33 & 53 GREAT &

The above Orders confirmed on 24 January 2018 under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert public Footpaths 33 and 53 in the Parish of in the City of as shown on the Order maps contained in these Orders.

Footpath 33 Great and Little Leighs commencing from a point on the public highway known as Road running in a south, south easterly direction across the field for 147 metres to a point in the middle of a field then in an east, north easterly direction to a point south of a pond, to an alternative route 2 metres in width commencing from the aforementioned start point running in a south easterly direction for 269 metres across the field to the aforementioned point south of the pond where it continues unaffected.

Footpath 53 Great and Little Leighs commencing from north of the pond by the side of the highway known as Road, running in an east, north easterly direction across the field for 291 metres to a point south west of Scarlett’s wood before proceeding in a north easterly direction for a distance of approximately 82 metres to a point near the south west corner of Scarlett’s Wood, to an alternative route 2 metres in width commencing from the aforementioned start point running in an east, north easterly direction along an existing path for 360 metres to the aforementioned point near the south west corner of Scarlett’s Wood where it continues unaffected.

A copy of the Orders and the Order maps have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Chelmsford City Council Offices and at Chelmsford Public Library, Market Road CM1 1QH during normal working hours. Copies are available on request from the Chelmsford Library at a charge.

The new paths will come into effect on 21 February 2018 but if a person aggrieved by the orders wants to question their validity, or that of any provision contained in them, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 8 February 2018 make an application to the High Court.
