We have organized this guide to make it easy to read for you based on whether you’re looking for food resources related to healthy eating or community resources related to active living. You will find page references for different categories related to healthy eating and active living to help you navigate this guide. Healthy eating and active living resources are broken out by category, and then listed alphabetically in the first half of the guide. These pages have more details about resources that may be helpful such as eligibility requirements, required documentation to bring, and more. Hours subject to change. • Notes: Produce from garden is FREE and open to the public to come pick and enjoy in season. Gardeners will also pick during season and set out for public. Grows a variety of fruits (apples, pears, blueberries, kiwis, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries) and has an herb garden. People are welcome to come relax in seating area and hold meetings in the garden as well. 2. Brimfield Community Cupboard Address: Faith United Methodist Church, 1235 Tallmadge Rd. Kent, Ohio 44240 Phone: (234) 817-1284 Website: https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Charity-Organization/Brimfield-Community- Cupboard-1529887140582736/ Hours: Open Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. • Notes: Provides groceries on a monthly basis for Brimfield residents who need assistance. The cupboard is located in the basement of the Faith United Methodist Church. Cupboard may be used once a month, with 30 days between usages. • Who Qualifies: Brimfield residents with income below the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Federal State Funded Food Program Guidelines. • Required Documents: Must bring identification (driver’s license or state identification card) and current proof of address (mail with current address) at each visit. 7 3. Catholic Charities Address: 206 W. Main St. Ravenna, Ohio 44266 Phone: (330) 297-7745 Website: https://www.ccdoy.org/locations/catholic-charities-serving-portage-stark-counties/ Hours: Open Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Call ahead for appointment before going in person. Schedule is subject to changes. • Notes: Provides help to individuals and families on an emergency basis and offers emergency food pantries at both of their Ravenna and Canton locations. In cooperation with the akron-Canton Regional Food bank, each site provides non-perishable food items as well as taxable items. Also has pop-up “Cooking Matters at the Store” programs, which is a guided grocery store tour, teaching participants skills for buying healthy foods on a budget. • Who Qualifies: Serves Portage residents with income at or below 200% Federal Poverty Guidelines. Service is available once in a 30-day period. • Required Documents: Valid photo ID (State ID or Driver's License). If current address is not on the ID, you will need to bring a recent piece of mail as proof of having a Portage address. • Fees: Free 4. Center of Hope Address: 1081 W. Main St. Ravenna, Ohio 44266 Phone: (330) 297-5454 or (330) 296-2158 Website: https://fcsserves.org/program/center-of-hope/ Hours: Open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. • Notes: Groceries are available monthly through the Christian Cupboard. Pantry hours correspond to open hours above but require an appointment to be made in advance for a specific time. It is recommended to call 3-4 days in advance if possible. Also serves meals daily (see “Hot Meals” for details) • Required Documents: None. • Fees: free 5. Church of Christ Ravenna Address: 3897 Summit Rd. Ravenna, Ohio 44266 Phone: (330) 296-3637 Website: http://ravennachurchofchrist.org/benevolence Hours: Open 2nd Wednesday of every month, 8 a.m.-10 a.m. • Notes: Distributes emergency food to those living in Ravenna, Ravenna Township, Rootstown, and Charlestown Township. Households in Ravenna should not have received help already from the Center of Hope. Walk-ins are welcome. May phone the church office for more information anytime (leave a message and the call will be returned). • Who Qualifies: Serves households at or below 150% of poverty guidelines. • Required Documents: Current proof of address (photo ID or current utility bill), family size (social security cards, birth certificates, school records), and income (pay stub, benefits letter) is required. • Fees: Free 8 6. Crestwood 4C's Address: Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 W. Prospect St. Mantua, OH 44255 Phone: (330) 274-3310 Website: https://www.facebook.com/pg/Crestwood-4Cs-110618037324874/about/?ref=page_internal Hours: Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 1 p.m.-3 p.m. NOTE: Pantry closes if Crestwood Schools closed for inclement weather. • Notes: Provides food on an emergency basis to families in need in the Crestwood School District. Residents of Crestwood school district include Hiram, Hiram Township, Shalersville, Mantua and Mantua Township, parts of Streetsboro, aurora, and Ravenna Township. Residents may use pantry once in a 30-day period. Walk-in for service. Appointments may be scheduled if needed outside of operating hours. If needed, clients may send a representative in their place (with proper paperwork) to pick up food. • Who Qualifies: Residents of Crestwood School District. • Required Documents: Photo ID for adult picking up the food and proof of address (mail or utility bill) for all adults in the household. • Fees: Free 7. Kent Social Services Address: 1066 S. The League of Women Voters of Kent and Northern Portage County are non-partisan political organizations that encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in government, work to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influence public policy through education and advocacy.
