We will receive a tour of the Big Board, the trading floor during the Opening Bell. Follow NYSE on social media BEFORE the visit! You may take and post photos during the tour. The company has been pushing hard to expand its investment banking operations in the U.S., which now has $30 billion in assets and 700 employees. They plan to recruit in Fall 2018 for the 2019 internship class. Speakers/Topics: First visit; Met with multiple MDs, associates and analysts in both Mizuho Securities and Mizuho to learn about the firm and recruiting timelines.

Largest PE firm in the world Speakers/Topics: Similar to last year’s agenda: We will meet with several analysts/associates to hear about their recruiting experience, backgrounds and roles (possibly in various groups including the Hedge Fund Solutions Group, Private Equity Energy Partners, , and Private Wealth Solutions. Kate Boyle from HR will meet in the reception area of 43rd floor and opens up for Q&A on recruiting.

Speakers/Topics: Similar to last year’s agenda: We are meeting Ben Koch (analyst and UK 2016 alum) and his colleagues to learn about investment banking

6:00pm – 8:00pm Pelissier Scholars Wall Street Reception @ The University Club 1 W 53rd St Dress Code: Business or business casual (outfit you would choose for a recruiting reception). Description: Currently, guests include ~10 alumni and friends of the university, some of whom working or closely connected to the firms in this itinerary. The reception is not set up for recruiting but it is important to leave a good impression. Be confident, but do not be aggressive in self-promotion. My general advice is to network with the guests, listen, ask good questions, show genuine interest, and be yourself. Keep in mind that most guests may not have a job for you but may provide invaluable connections.

FRIDAY, May 18th

The first segment is as the world’s largest alternative asset managers (hedge fund) with over $25 billion in assets under management. The second is as a market maker for a number of equity and derivative products. The Aptigon division manages money for a number of the company’s funds using a long/short equity strategy. Speakers/Topics: First visit; We will meet in the first 30 minutes a Managing Director in Autos Equity Research to learn about equity research and in the second 30-minute slot, a Managing Director of the Equity Capital Markets who was on Forbes “30 under 30 Finance” list in 2016. (The acceptance rate for the list is less than 4%!)

Speakers/Topics: Likely to repeat last year’s agenda to some degree: We will have a recruiting overview (20 minutes) with a recruiter from University Relations, an Investment Banking Division overview (30-35 minutes) with a Managing Director of Consumer/Retail Investments), and then a quick tour (15-20 minutes) of the building with a recruiter. Be sure to read the news about the MD, who was named as one of the 6 Influencers (from five firms) in 2018 by National Retail Federation (NRF)!

2:30pm (or 2:45pm) Shelter Growth Capital Partners (www.sheltergrowth.com/ ) 1 Dock Street Stamford, CT 06902 Description: Hedge fund founded by an ex GS partner, Dan Sparks, in 2015 that specializes in mortgages and other credit markets with now $2.5 billion AUM. #7 on Barron’s Best 100 Hedge Funds (2018) Speakers/topics: Meeting with Dan Sparks (CEO, CIO, and founder), Thomas (Portfolio manager), and Paul (in marketing and corporate development). Must read the article about Dan and the firm before meeting. Dan was a partner in mortgaged backed securities at Goldman Sachs before retiring (early) and started this hedge fund. The format will largely be Q&A. Hence, more good questions, the better.

Predominantly manages money for alternative investment vehicles such as Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Real Estate and Private Credit. Over $150 Billion AUM. Speakers/Topics: First visit. We met with the Director of Real Estate, who is a UK alum and will be attending the University Club reception. He will discuss the PE industry, KKR’s operations, his career path, and offered career advice.

10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 1585 Broadway (48th St.), (6th floor) New York, NY 10036-1507 Description: Top tier Bulge Bracket Investment Bank primarily positioned in the U.S. Its largest segments include Investment Banking, Institutional Securities, Investment Management, Lending, and Trading. Mr. George Van Amson, MD International Equity Sales and Head of North America Internship and Mentoring, and a few analysts, will meet with us. Speakers/Topics: We visited the same group in 2017. Topics this year includes recruiting timeline, contact info of recruiting, and business at the division and of the firm in general.

2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Omega Advisors 810 7th Ave, (between 52nd/53rd) 33rd Floor New York, NY 10019 Description: Alternative asset manager with over $3.5 billion in assets under management. The vast majority of this $3.5 billion is the personal wealth of CEO and Chairman Leon “Lee” Cooperman. Meeting with Mr. Cooperman will center around investing and career advice.

4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Moelis & Company 399 Park Ave., 5th Floor New York, NY 10022 Description: Global Independent Investment Bank that provides financial advisory services to corporations, governments and financial sponsors. The firm advises on strategic decisions such as mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations and restructurings and other corporate finance matters. Speakers/Topics: First visit; Met with analysts and recruiters. A VP gave the presentation.

WEDNESDAY, May 23rd

9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. FTI Consulting 3 Times Square, 9th Floor New York, NY 10036 Description: Independent global business advisory firm that provides a vast array of consulting services. Speakers/Topics: Similar to last year’s agenda, we spoke with a Senior Director of Global Insurance Services, a Director Forensic and Litigation Consulting, and an associate in the division. (The NYC office of this firm recruits undergraduate students from top universities for entry level positions. In contrast, most other consulting firms prefer recruiting people with MBA degrees or work experience in Big Four, etc. However, competition remains intense.)

11:15 a.m. – 12:15pm Visible Alpha 10 East 40th Street, 6th Floor New York, NY 10016 Description: A Fin-Tech company owned by 12 large (BAML, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Jefferies, Goldman Sachs, etc.). The firm is working on new technologies that hedge funds and investment banks are using by creating in-depth consensus models for companies globally across hundreds of brokers. Analysts at firms such as Point 72, Balyasney, Citadel are using their technologies in some very cool ways. Speakers/topics: A marketing director and the Senior Client Success Manager showed the firm’s platform (blending research with tech), explained its use, company history, and possible future directions.

2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Redburn Partners 565 5th Avenue, 26th Floor (Note: building entrance is on 46th St.) New York, NY 10017 Description: Boutique Investment Bank and Europe’s largest independent equities broker. Speakers/topics: Met with a Partner of Equity Research Sales at Redburn since 2008, a Senior Research Sales at Redburn since 2007, and the Director of HR and Corporate Access. Redburn is likely to recruit for 2019 internship in fall 2018. It came to Gatton College early 2018 for full-time on-campus recruiting after the first Pelissier Scholars visit in May 2017.
