Elected to the 13th, 14th and 15th Bihar State Legislative Assembly. MINISTERIAL EXPERIENCE Minister Department of Rural Development, Government of Bihar from 26.11.2010 till date. With an annual budget of over INR 6000 crores ($1.3 billion) the Rural Development Department implement a range of programmes that include assured wage employment, rural housing, micro-credit, capacity building, rural infrastructure, Below Poverty Line census and KBKBS (anytime, anywhere services). Empowering citizens and strengthening democratic processes is at the heart of all that the department does. Minister of State (Independent Charge) Department of Disaster Management, Government of Bihar from 13.04.2008 - 22.03.2009. As the Minister for Disaster Management spearheaded the relief and rescue operations of more than three million people marooned by the devastating Kosi floods (2008) in the five districts of Bihar - Supaul, Madhepura, Araria, Saharsa and Purnea. Supervised the evacuation of one million people - one of the biggest rescue operations in India. Minister of State (Independent Charge), Department of Sugarcane Development, Government of Bihar, from 24.11.2005 - 13.04.2008 As the Minister for Sugarcane Industry worked to help the farmers in getting maximum return for their input, strengthening sugarcane research, facilitate investment for establishing new sugar mills, encouraged the existing sugar mills to expand their capacities, encouraged ethonal and power (cogeneration) production, conceptualised the Sugarcane Incentive Policy and initiated the process to privatise 15 closed sugar mills of the state government corporation OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS Member Committee on Public Sector Undertakings and Member Public Accounts Committee of Bihar Legislative Assembly (March 2009 – November 2010) Voted as the Pepsi MTV YOUTH ICON (Young Achievers) 2008 among more than 8000 National Entries. Identified as one of the most promising social entrepreneur by Digital Partners, Seattle (USA) based organization for the project on E-Swasthya (health) in the Madhubani district of Bihar. Attended "Asia 21 Young Leader's Summit" in Singapore organised by Singapore Management University and Asia Society in 2007. Attended "Asia Regional UK Alumni Programme Leadership Breakthroughs" organised by British Council in Dubai 3 -5 March 2012.
