BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

The applied Quarrying area working permissions for Grey Granite by “Mahesh Nemanna Melsakri” is situated in Sy. No’s. 296/1, 296/2 & 297/2 of Kallur Village, Yelburga Taluk, Koppal District, State over an extent of 4.391 Ha.(10-34 acres) Quarrying Plan is being prepared under Rule 32 of “Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession Rules–1994 and in accordance with Rule 8F & 8H(1) of Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession(Amendment) Rules-2014. The Dept. of Mines and Geology, has directed the applicant to obtain approval of Quarrying Plan from the State Government (Department of Mines & Geology) & requisite Environmental Clearance from State Level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) Constituted by MOEF, Government of .

The Office of the Dy. Commissioner, Koppal has approved the Conversion of land for Non Agricultural purpose (for quarrying) of the Subject area vide NA No. Revenue/Kam.Num.19966/Binshetki/1050/2015 dated 17.11.2015.

The applicant intends to commence production after grant of permission from the concerned authorities and supply the Grey Granite to domestic market and also to Export oriented industries which is found to have use for Monuments, Flooring slabs/tiles, Kitchen articles, sculptures etc.,

The area is found to have few prominent exposures of Grey Granite covering most of the Quarry area. Detailed study of the area has been done by the applicant by sampling exposed blocks of grey granite. It is proposed to take up as may be necessary detailed exploratory drilling & pits during the first five years of Quarrying plan period after the grant of working permissions. In view of the proposal for development and production of Grey Granite, the applicant intends to go for medium scale quarrying initially by engaging both manual & machineries i.e. Semi Mechanized Open cast method of quarrying.

The “Quarrying Plan” is being prepared under Rule 8I, 8C, 8D, 8F & 8H(1) of “Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession(Amendment) Rules-2014” for the purpose of the Grant of Quarry working permission in patta lands against NA from the Dy. Commissioner, Koppal letter dated 17/11/2015.

Area Accessibility The Quarry area is easily accessible in all seasonal conditions. The quarry area is about 385 kms from Bangalore via. Hiriyur-Chitradurga-Hospet-Koppal-- Kallur-Quarry Site. The Quarry location is 7 kms from Kuknur & 35 km from Koppal which has asphalt road. The nearest railway station is Bhanapur about 20 kms situated on Hubli-Guntakal broad-gauge line and the nearest Air Port is Hubli at a distance of about 130 kms and Harbor is New Karawar Port which is about 290kms.

Lease Area Surroundings  There are no metropolitan cities within 5 kms of the Quarry area.

 No Historical place within 5 kms from the Quarry area.

 The quarry site is situated about 350 meters from Kallur-Kuknur Public Road.

 Within the core zone there are no settlement and dwellings. The nearest village is Kallur which is about 1.10 kms away from the core zone. Hence no displacements of persons are required for the Quarry.

 No National park or wildlife sanctuary lies within the buffer zone or nearby this region.

 No ecologically sensitive area such as biosphere reserves, important lakes or coastal areas rich coral formation falls in the region.
