RAIDER REVIEW: The Prince Albert Raiders (4-11-1-0) try to turn their fortunes around on Friday night when they welcome the Kootenay ICE (3-9-3-1) into the Art Hauser Centre. Both teams are coming off losses on Wednesday night. The Raiders fell 5-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds at home. Luke Coleman and Parker Kelly each scored in the first period, but the Thunderbirds exploded for five goals in the third period to take the two points. As for the ICE, their defence melted in a 10-2 loss to the Regina Pats at the Brandt Centre. Seven different Pats scored in the win over Kootenay, including Filip Ahl, Nick Henry and Sam Steel who each had two goals.

VS. KOOTENAY: The Raiders swept the season series with the ICE last season, outscoring Kootenay 17-6 in the process. Jordan Tkatch and Reid Gardiner each had nine points in the season series to lead the Raiders in scoring. Over the past five seasons, the Raiders own a 11-5-3-1 record against the ICE.

HEATING UP: Luke Coleman has started to put the puck in the net for the Raiders. The 18-year-old from Red Deer, AB has two goals in the past two games. He also has found the back of the net in three of the last five games. After returning from the Detroit Red Wings training camp, Coleman has five goals and an assist in 14 games this season.

SHUTTING THE DOOR: In his short WHL career, goaltender Ian Scott has earned one shutout. He stopped all 33 shots fired his way by the ICE on October 17, 2015 and the Raiders needed every save. They scored a last-minute goal in the third period to down the ICE 1-0 in Cranbrook.

REPRESENTING THE LEAGUE: Following tonight’s game, Brendan Guhle will be departing the Raiders to suit up for Team WHL at the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series. The games will be played in Prince George, B.C. on Monday and Edmonton, AB on Tuesday. The games will be broadcasted nationally on Sportsnet.

AFTER THE DUB: On Thursday, the WHL announced that 355 graduated players have been awarded WHL Scholarships for the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year. That is the highest total for the fall season in WHL history. Among those 355 players, 35 suited up for the Prince Albert Raiders.

NEXT UP: The Raiders venture west next week as they make their biennial trip through the B.C. Division. The road trip begins on Friday, November 11 in Kamloops against the Blazers. Puck drop is 7 p.m. CST. The Raiders return home to the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday, November 23 when they host the Swift Current Broncos. Game time is 7 p.m.
