2014 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF Championship Headed to Sanford Center in Bemidji March 7-8 The 2014 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF, the playoff championship for the women’s league, will be held at Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minnesota on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8. Bemidji will be the seventh city to host this event in the 15-year history of the WCHA playoff championships. It has been held four of the last five years at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. “We are happy that the WCHA will get to take the excitement of our post-season tournament to a new venue,’’ said commis- sioner Sara Martin, who added that Bemidji State University officials are helping in the planning of the event. “The Sanford Center is a beautiful facility and great spot to show off the skills of our players.’’ Minnesota has the won the last two WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF championships as well as the last two NCAA Frozen Four titles. All eight WCHA-member teams will play best-of-three playoff series Februrary 28-March 2 at the site of the higher-seeded team. The four winners will then play for the conference playoff championship at the WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF, with two semifinals on Friday, March 7 and the championship on Saturday, March 8. The winner of the WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF receives the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Women’s Hockey Tournament. Ticket information will be announced in the near future.
