CONTINU PLUS SIXTH FORM ADMISSION POLICY 2020- 2021

“We Will Work It Out” Introductory statement CPA 16-19 Academic AP Academy provides a full time academic curriculum to meet the needs of male and female students who would otherwise be unlikely or unable to achieve their full academic potential and gain access to Higher Education. These students have previously suffered a disrupted or troubled educational experience, but have shown at Key Stage 4 that they possess the ability, desire and capability to progress to higher education if the right teaching, support and educational context are made available to them. The identified cohort consists of students who have undertaken the CPA Key Stage 4 programme as well as learners who may complete Key Stage 4 in a mainstream setting with considerable support that is not sustainable during Key Stage 5. Students may also be referred by the SEN Post 16 WCC team in line with the CPA admission criteria. The CPA 16-19 Academic AP Academy provides a relevant alternative to the mainstream Sixth Form and Further Education offer, focusing on providing equality of access to education and improving social mobility for this group of students. CPA Key stage 4 Students are funded centrally by the ESFA. The local authority referrals are funded from the higher level needs funding block in accordance with induction assessments and previous pupil data. In the event of a mainstream referral, home schools will be charged £4561 per year for students without EHCP. This additional funding covers the enhanced staff-student ratio of the academy, provision of enrichment and therapeutic services.

Admission number The academy has an admission number of 16 for entry in year 12.
