ITINERARY IN DETAIL

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345meters) Welcome to the mystifying lands of the Himalayan nation, Nepal! Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) which is the only International Airport located in the capital city of Kathmandu, a representative of Icicles Adventure Treks shall welcome you and then transfer you to your respective hotel rooms. There you can take some rest, showers and later go out to stroll around the famous touristic central of Thamel area where you can find all sorts of foreign and local entertainments. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 2: Trek preparation & city tour in Kathmandu It’s your first morning in the lively historic capital city of Kathmandu and so we have scheduled a revitalizing sightseeing tour of the popular UNESCO World Heritage Tour around the Kathmandu valley. First and foremost, we head to the ancient religious site of Swayambhunath Temple (The Monkey Temple), Boudhanath stupa which truly is one of the most stunning places in Kathmandu where you have to visit at least once. Later on, we move to the sacred Hindu site of Pashupatinath where the masses of Hindu devotees can be seen praying. Day 3: Kathmandu Lukla - Phakding (2652m) 3 hrs Get ready as we now leave the traffic zone of Kathmandu and head towards the eastern serenity of Nepal. After waking up and having our breakfast, we take on an early morning flight to Lukla which can often be called as the gateway to the Everest region where trekkers pursue their dreams of reaching the glorious Everest Base Camp. With just a 40-minute flight trip, on reaches the incredible hill airstrip of Lukla. Dramatically surrounded by lush verdant hills and local ethnic villages, we march away from Lukla and make a beeline towards another scenic village called Phakding. As we have reached the infamous airport of Lukla which is situated at a very high altitude, your body may not be able to cope with the sudden change in the environment so we are going to the nearest next village of Phakding which can help you get acclimatized adequately for your trek. Initially we are to descend down to Chauri Kharka and then again climb up to ultimately reach the Phakding village. Stay overnight at Phakding.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) 6 hrs Gear up as we now have to trek upward to Namche Bazaar which can be a very arduous trek with memorable moments. So, after waking up, we tighten our laces and head straight up toward to Monjo village. As there will be several crossings over Dudh Koshi, we will be going up and down on a very notorious manner. snowcapped Himalayan mountain of Mt. Thamserku which is more than six thousand meters tall. In this day, we cross several bridges through densely packed forest trails before reaching the entering point of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo village. Later on, from Monjo, we descend down all the way to Jorsale which is also the last village before reaching Namche Bazaar, hence we now have to make a final push to reach the scenic Namche Bazaar. From this instance, the trek gets more pleasing as trekkers can witness stunning natural scenery and cross the windy Hillary Suspension Bridge which can be a very memorable experience for the trekkers. Before reaching Namche Bazaar, you get to see several mountain vistas of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Kwangde and several others. Last of all, we reach the vibrant Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. Day 5: Acclimatization day – Hike to Everest view hotel (3900m) 3-4 hrs As scheduled today is one of the most important days of our entire trek as we are planned to spend this entire by taking short stroll of walks around and up Namche Bazaar. This is to help our bodies acclimatize properly and prepare you for the incoming journey which goes all the way up to the formidable base camp of Mt. Everest. Nevertheless, you should not spend your time by sleeping or staying indoors all day. Rather you must move your body at a moderate level and visit some popular sites around Namche Bazaar which includes the hike to the Everest View Hotel. Not just that but you can even visit Thame or Khunde as per your own desire. Even Namche Bazaar, itself is a very touristic place where you can find vast diversity of foreign influenced cafes, restaurants and lodges which offer great services like Free Wi-Fi, hot showers, charging area and bars. Day 6: Trek to Dole (4200m) 5 hrs Waking up to the serene sounds of the Namche Bazaar, we shall have our breakfast and then move ahead with our trek towards the next destination of Dole which is a small local village on our trail to the Everest Base Camp. In the beginning the trail up to Kyangjuma is very easy going without much complications. Now we climb our way out of the valley into a forested trail of juniper and coniferous trees. The vegetation now becomes very sparse mainly due to the fact that the high elevation. Now you might be able see large herds of Kharkas coming through you as you try to avoid them. Generally, Sherpa people tend to bring their domesticated animals out here at high altitudes for grazing purposes. Today as we proceed further, our trail is supposed to pass through local villages of Tongba and Gyele village where few local lodges can be found. Moving on, we now reach Dole where the views of Khumbila and Tawache can be seen throughout the entire day. Stay overnight at Dole.

Day 7: Trek to Machhermo (4400m) 5 hrs After waking up, trekkers get to have their essential breakfast and afterward leave Dole to move onward towards our next destination of Machhermo village. villages while enjoying the stunning natural setting all around the trail. With more steep hikes, trekkers make an attempt to reach Machhermo before dawn. Similarly, to yesterday, trekkers can see Kharkas grazing here and there during their onward hike to Machhermo. It is believed that in the year of 1974 AD, a Yeti managed to kill 3 yaks and injure a Sherpa woman before fleeing away. Hence, this place is very historically tied with the legends of Yeti. Stay overnight at Machhermo.

Day 8: Trek to Gokyo Lake (4700m) 4 hrs We climb a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kantega and up towards Cho-Oyu (8201m). Beyond the ridge the valley widens as the trail passes through Pangka at (4390m) then descends to the riverbank before beginning of climb on to the terminal moraine of the . It’s a steep climb up the moraine, switch backing alongside the stream to the first small Lake at (4650m), where a family of green Brainy ducks resides. The trail now becomes almost level at (4690m).

Day 9: Hike to Gokyo RI (5360m) 4 hrs Early wake up and climb up to the Gokyo-Ri, for panoramic view of Mahalangur Himalayan range, it takes approximately 2hrs climb to the top of the peak, providing a panoramic view of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Tawache & a great looking of Ngozumpa glacier a largest glacier in Nepal. Then decent to Gokyo and relax with your Lunch & hot tea.

Day 10: Trek to Lungden (4300m) via Renjo La pass (5340m) 7 hrs The crossing of the Renjo La Pass will be exciting and challenging as we descend into remote northern valley where access is restricted, and the landscape is progressively that of the Tibetan Valleys beyond the border. There is a chance we will meet Tibetan traders descending from the Nangpa La pass that leads through the from Tibet with their caravans of woolly yaks laden with goods.

Day 11: Trek to Thame (3800m) 4 hrs After taking breakfast, we trek down to Thame more amazing snow peaks. We may meet Tibetan trader encampments along the way for pictures of a rare lifestyle. About 150 meters above Thame, there is a Thame Monastery, a picturesque monastery set among the many homes of monks and lay people. It’s perched on the side of a hill overlooking the valley. This is the site for the spring celebration of the Mani Rimdu festival, held about the middle of May each year. Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 4 hrs We continue our trekking following the flat and descending to first resting place Thame after heading towards to Namche Bazaar.

Day 13: Trek to Lukla (2800m) 7 hrs The trek continues along the Dudh Koshi River to the small mountain airstrip at Lukla where you will catch your return flight to Kathmandu.
